FIRST Report

The state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), holds Texas public schools accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and requires them to improve those practices. Out of a possible total score of 100, Magnolia ISD scored 100, earning the highest available rating of “Superior” with a letter grade of an A.

This year’s School FIRST rating is based on an analysis of staff and student data reported for the 2024-25 school year, as well as budgetary and actual financial data for the 2025 fiscal year. FIRST ratings are calculated using 21 financial indicators, such as administrative cost expenditures; the accuracy of a district or charter’s financial information submitted to the Texas Education Agency (TEA); and any financial vulnerabilities or material weaknesses in internal controls as determined by an external auditor.

“The success of the FIRST score is a direct result of prudent financial management by the administration and board,” said Dr. Erich Morris, Assistant Superintendent of Operations. “The system has become more stringent in how it’s being assessed, and this recognition should serve as a reminder to our stakeholders that we are committed to fiscal excellence.”

Accountability Report

Magnolia ISD is pleased to announce that the district has earned an 87 rating in the 2026 Texas Education Agency (TEA) Accountability Ratings, the highest rating the district has achieved under TEA's revised system.

The district is especially proud that eight campuses earned an “A” rating, including both of our comprehensive high schools. This is the highest number of Magnolia ISD campuses ever to receive the state's highest rating, showing the consistent excellence and strong academic performance across our schools.

The majority of our campuses also received distinctions. Earning 47 distinctions-up from 26 last year-reflects our schools' outstanding performance in these areas, benefiting our students and community. TEA places schools in comparative groups, and schools can earn a distinction when they finish in the top 25% in groups based on size, poverty rate, and other factors.

The breakdown of the scores is as follows:

Audubon Elementary - A

Bear Branch Elementary - A

Ellisor Elementary - A

Lyon Elementary - A

Magnolia Parkway Elementary - A

Smith Elementary - A

Magnolia High School - A

Magnolia West High School - A

Nichols Sawmill Elementary - B

Bear Branch Junior High - B

Magnolia Intermediate - B

Magnolia Junior High - B

Magnolia Parkway Intermediate - B

Magnolia Parkway Junior High - B

Williams Elementary - B

Bear Branch Intermediate - C (79)

Magnolia Elementary - C (79)

This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our students, teachers, staff, campus leaders, and families. The TEA accountability system provides a comprehensive measure of school and district performance, making this accomplishment an especially meaningful recognition of the progress taking place across Magnolia ISD.
