The Bobcat Bulletin
April 18, 2026
A Message from Mrs. Britton
Last week, we had an amazing week! Our Bobcat Choir had the incredible opportunity to open the Phillies game on Tuesday, which was a memorable experience for our students. On Thursday, Ms. Devine hosted her final art show after a 38-year career at Indian Lane. She recently announced her retirement at the end of this school year, and we wish her all the best. This morning, I also had the honor of throwing out the opening pitch at AMLL Opening Day.
Next week, we will begin PSSA testing for students in grades 3–5. Please review the important information and reminders below to help ensure a smooth and successful testing experience for all students. PSSA testing will officially begin on Tuesday.
Testing Days:
ELA (Grades 3–5): April 21, 22, 24
Math (Grades 3–5): April 28, 29
Science (Grade 5): April 30, May 1
If a student has an appointment on a testing day, it is best for them to arrive after the appointment rather than leave early. Once a student begins a PSSA section, they must complete it before leaving. It is also important that students arrive at school by 8:50 AM each day and avoid scheduling appointments during testing days whenever possible. Any missed portion of the assessment will need to be completed at a later time within the testing window.
During testing, all backpacks will remain in the hallway. Students should leave electronic devices at home whenever possible. Any devices that must be brought to school should be turned off and stored away, as electronic devices are strictly prohibited during testing and possession of a device may be considered a testing violation.
We also encourage healthy habits during this time. A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast each morning will help students do their best. As always, breakfast is available at school for our students.
-Michelle Britton

Art Show
A Special Thanks from Ms. Devine
Greetings Indian Lane Community,
I bid you a fond farewell as I conclude my 38th and final art show with the Rose Tree Media School District. Serving this community and the generations of families has been a labor of love for me.
I have treasured the opportunity to organize this show each year, and I have always been inspired by new and fresh projects. The process has helped me grow as both an artist and an instructor. I am continually amazed by how readily the students embrace and overcome each new technical challenge.
I am deeply grateful for your continued support of the art program over the years. Because of you, it will continue to grow, inspire and thrive for years to come.
Wishing you all the very best!
Ms. Devine

Poem In Your Pocket 2026
We are excited to announce that the 16th Annual Poem in Your Pocket (PIYP) will take place Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 in celebration of National Poetry Month. This community event is organized each April by our teacher-librarians.
PIYP gives students and community members the opportunity to share a short poem at participating local businesses in exchange for a small treat generously provided by those businesses. The event is inclusive and flexible—students choose their own poem, practice it, and decide which businesses they would like to visit.
Students will come home with flyers and passports next week. Take a look at the link below to view participating businesses for the 2026 Poem In Your Pocket and photos from previous years.
Sunscreen Permission Form
The sun has made a return! Parents are encouraged to apply sunscreen onto their students before coming to school each day or use sun protective clothing to protect their skin. If you would like your student to have sunscreen at school, it must be non-aerosol and able to be applied by the student. There is a Sunscreen Permission Form that also needs to be completed and returned. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Poetry Café 2026 Schedule - May 15-22
Mark Your Calendar: You're Invited!
Poetry Café is an opportunity for students to practice important speaking and listening skills in a fun and positive way. Students are also exposed to an appreciation of poetry and creativity. We hope you can make it to our Poetry Café to hear the children read their favorite published poems and/or original poems in our wonderful library. It's a café, so there will be snacks, too. Guests are encouraged to bring poems to share. The kids absolutely love this part! Email Mrs. Hatton at thatton@rtmsd.org with any questions.

Run the Lane Registration is Now Open!
This race serves as a fundraiser for the NK Smiles Scholarship Fund, named in honor and memory of the late Norm Kelly, Jr., a beloved elementary school teacher in the Rose Tree Media School District. Mr. Kelly passed away in August 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. He left a lasting impact on the community as an educator, youth lacrosse coach, and friend to many.
Each year, the NK Smiles Scholarship is awarded to one male and one female Penncrest senior lacrosse player, as well as to students pursuing careers in education. Proceeds from Run the Lane directly support this meaningful scholarship fund.
Like this year, this year, anyone who registers by May 20th is guaranteed a T-shirt! Each shirt will be bagged in advance. We hope you will join us in honoring Mr. Kelly’s legacy and supporting this special cause.
