Dear Westmoor Families,

We had the honor of celebrating our GBN graduates as they took their final walk through the halls of Westmoor. It was a touching moment as we wished them well on their journey ahead. We’re so proud of each of them and send our heartfelt congratulations as they move forward into this exciting new chapter.

Looking Ahead: Please note that Monday is a field day and wear your grade color day, Tuesday is our pack celebration and movie day and Wednesday is a half day with a noon dismissal. As we reflect on this wonderful school year, I feel deeply grateful for the connections we’ve built with our students and families.

As we wrap up the school year, this will be our final newsletter until August 7, when class placement information will be shared via email. If you need assistance over the summer, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our new principal, Mitch Dubinsky.

On a personal note, although my time here has been short, it has truly flown by. I want to sincerely thank you for your kindness, support, and for sharing your wonderful students with me. I have learned so much from this community, and the experience has made me a better person.

As I look ahead, I’m excited to spend more time with my family and enjoy some slower moments together. I especially look forward to lunch dates with my dad and sharing a few favorite Westmoor stories along the way. Thank you again for making my time here so meaningful.

Wishing you a fantastic weekend and a relaxing, joy-filled summer break!

Our Bulldog Pack Day is coming up on Tuesday! We will have our end of the year assembly in the morning, followed by a Bulldog Pack Picnic with popsicles during lunch and recess. In the afternoon, we will be having a whole school movie celebration. All K-5 students have selected their movie choice and will enjoy a relaxing afternoon with friends at all grade levels. Students are welcome to bring the following items to school on Tuesday, June 2nd:

  • Beach towel to sit on for the Pack picnic

  • Blanket, stuffie and/or small pillow for the movie celebration (All items should fit in a backpack)

We are looking forward to a fun day together as a Westmoor community!

We will be serving one of these flavors of Johnny Pops. If you have any questions or concerns about your student eating one of these, please contact both your homeroom teacher and Mrs. Woodward - awoodward@northbrook.net.

Our May character trait was fairness. Fairness means treating others with respect, sharing, taking turns, and making sure everyone has what they need to succeed. The students pictured above demonstrated these qualities in their words and actions throughout the month.

Westmoor Kicks off Construction! Westmoor Kicks off Construction!

Earlier this week, we gathered for a groundbreaking to mark the start of construction at Westmoor, as part of the district's Build 28 initiative. Representatives from DLA Architects and Reed Construction also joined the school community at the event.

Equipped with hard hats and ceremonial shovels, students and staff gathered outside the building for photos to commemorate the beginning of school renovations and an addition that will help create updated learning spaces for current and future Bulldogs.

Phase I, which is anticipated to run from summer 2026 to spring 2027, includes building a new cafetorium (cafeteria/auditorium) north of the main gym. Phase II, which is anticipated to run during summer 2027, includes remodeling the existing multipurpose room into classrooms and new ADA-compliant bathrooms, replacing the playground equipment, and adding a hard surface play area outside.

The Build 28 initiative was made possible through the community’s support of a $94.9 million referendum in 2025. In addition, the district is using $20 million from its operating funds to fund the projects.

Major construction will begin once school gets out! Click here to keep track of all the latest updates from Westmoor.
