Imagination Library of Oswego County has launched its brand-new dedicated website! The website concisely shares all of the information on the program in one place, while making it easier than ever for Oswego County residents to sign up and participate or donate to help sustain the program. The website was made possible by financial contributions from Fulton Savings Bank and the Fulton Lions Club, as well as from in-kind professional services donations from Steve Chirello Advertising, and from Quintessential Creative, who designed and built the website. Meet Carri Waloven- LCOC Managing Partner

Where do you work, how long have you been there and what is your job title?

I work as a Staff Developer at CiTi BOCES in Oswego County. This will be my sixth year at CiTi and my 28th year in education.

Why did you become involved in LCOC?

I got involved with LCOC back in 2013 when I worked as the Director of Literacy for the Fulton City School District. Part of my responsibilities was to direct the Universal PreK Programs. Those programs were community-based therefore I engaged with community partners such as Head Start and the YMCA to name a few. Through those partnerships, I discovered Literacy Coalition. My beliefs about the importance of literacy aligned with LCOC and I have volunteered and been involved ever since.

What are you most proud of as a member of LCOC?

I am most proud of our collaborative nature as an organization. We understand the importance of connecting with other people and organizations to collectively work together to increase the literacy skills of children and families in Oswego County.

What's the title of the last book you read?

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. It's a story about the impact poverty and addiction have on society, families, school systems, and life. How does one survive against all the odds stacked against you?

What brings you joy?

It brings me joy to watch my daughters (24 & 22 years old) achieve their educational goals so they can begin careers they are passionate about.
