The first three days of school were filled with activities to help build relationships, connections, and a place where students want to be! We believe that if we provide an environment where students feel loved, safe, and valued, they will certainly learn!

Our teachers are top-notch at teaching beyond the standards, but more than that, they want to make a strong connection with each and every student in their classroom.

As the football season is upon us, I just wanted to revisit the Student expectations for our younger aged students who attend our home football games. This top of the line facility is one that the whole community of Jasper should be proud of and we should encourage everyone to take care of and preserve the immaculate condition of this facility. I wanted to address a matter of importance regarding student behavior at our school’s home football games. To help us maintain a respectful and orderly environment, please remind students of the following expectations that we have implemented for the past two football seasons:

1. No Running on the Track: Students are asked to avoid being in the track area. The only students permitted inside the fence of the track are the high school students, cheerleaders, dancers, and band.

2. No Running Through the Concourse: The concourse under the bleachers is very congested on game night. Running erratically in this area is a hazard, especially to our older population of fans that attend games.

3. No Throwing Objects: It is important that students refrain from throwing rocks or other objects down drains or onto the track. This behavior can lead to potential hazards and damage that impacts the facility. While we're at it, students can leave balls at home as there is really nowhere for this type of activity.

4. Respect for Landscaping: Please remind students not to run through or damage the landscaping around the venue. Respecting these areas helps keep our facilities looking their best and ensures a pleasant experience for everyone.

These guidelines are crucial for maintaining a safe and enjoyable atmosphere at our games. We appreciate your assistance in communicating these expectations to students and reinforcing the importance of following them.

Dear Parent/Guardian of students in 5th grade,

Ireland Elementary School will conduct the first onsite vaccine clinic of the school year on September 24th.

The vaccine clinic will be held at Ireland Elementary School during the school day.

The Dubois County Health Department will be offering TDaP, MCV4, and HPV immunizations.

Below you will find a link to complete the form for your student to participate, and a detailed letter from the Dubois County Health Department.

Registration closes September 23rd.

If your child is a car line dismissal student, you will use your car line hanging card with a number on it. This number is the same as last year. Please display this car number when you arrive at school. We will be using an app to signal for your child to be dismissed from their classroom.

As always, we are going as fast as we can, so please have patience with us.

• DO NOT pass in the car line EVER. This is for the safety of the students.
• DO NOT drop off at the front of the school. If it is after 7:50 and you wrap around the back of the school and a sign is out that says, DOOR IS LOCKED, that is the only time it is okay to drop off at the front of the school in the morning.

• School hours are 7:50AM -2:50PM. Students can arrive starting at 7:15AM. Students may not be dropped off prior to 7:15 AM. If you bring your child to school after 7:50 AM, you must escort them to the front doors.

• We are highly encouraging parents who are bringing their child to school to use the car drop-off drive. If you would like to walk your child in, you will have to say goodbye outside the front doors. It will get congested there as that is where the buses drop-off. We will keep students moving as much as we can. Many staff members will be at all drop-off locations to help students to their appropriate classrooms. Please trust us that we have your child's best well-being in mind at all times.

• All school supplies are provided by the PTO. Your child only needs a backpack, headphones, and a water bottle. Please write your child's name on all items.

• Please see nurse Brandi Stiles for prescription medicine intake. All medicine must be accompanied by a parent and include a physician’s prescription. Students are not allowed to transport medicine to school.

• VERY IMPORTANT- If your child's transportation changes, please notify the office with a note ASAP at iesoffice@gjcs.k12.in.us

The following are steps being taken by GJCS to ensure the safe transportation of students on school buses.

• School buses have been cleaned prior to the start of school.
• Students must stay in their own seats and keep their hands to themselves.
• If behavior arises, students will have consequences.
• Students are required to ride only their assigned bus.
