Panther(s)of the Week
Zachary Tomlinson
I am thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of Zachary Tomlinson, Inclusion Teacher at 373K Medgar Evers, whose dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to his students continue to inspire us all.
Last year, Zach was honored as a D75 Big Apple Award winner—a testament to his outstanding impact in the classroom. This year, he has once again raised the bar, being named a finalist for the prestigious FLAG Award for Teaching, earning a $10,000 personal prize and a $5,000 arts grant for our school. What an extraordinary accomplishment!
Zach is a model educator whose thoughtful and innovative approach transforms lives. From preparing students for their GEDs to securing a grant for driver’s education and establishing a civil service exam pipeline, his work goes far beyond the classroom. He is building futures, opening doors, and empowering students with the tools they need to succeed in life.
His dedication doesn’t stop there—Zach is a trusted leader during district visits and a constant source of inspiration for colleagues and students alike. His work is a shining example of what’s possible when passion meets purpose.
Zach, we are so proud of you and grateful for all that you do. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition—you are truly making a difference!
Maria Ladenheim
It is with both heartfelt gratitude and immense pride that we bid farewell to Maria Ladenheim, our exceptional Speech Therapist and Related Service Coordinator at P373K, as she embarks on an exciting new chapter as an Educational Administrator with the New York City Public Schools.
Maria has been a cornerstone of our school community—dedicated, compassionate, and unwavering in her commitment to student growth and independence. Her tireless efforts have empowered countless students to find their voice, build confidence, and achieve agency in their learning journeys.
Beyond her work with students, Maria has been instrumental in ensuring our school’s excellence in compliance, audits, PPOs, and every detail in between. Her diligence, organization, and leadership have made a lasting impact that will be felt long after her departure.
While we will deeply miss her presence, we are thrilled to see her talents and leadership recognized on a broader scale. Maria, you have earned this opportunity, and we know you will continue to inspire, lead, and uplift in your new role.
Congratulations on this well-deserved next step. Your P373K family is cheering you on every step of the way!
Finish strong with safety first
It’s June—the sun is finally out, and we’re all feeling the fatigue that comes with the end of the school year.
That said, safety remains our top priority. No one wants to see a student get hurt or, heaven forbid, go missing. Please stay vigilant, especially during breakfast, lunch, and dismissal. These are high-traffic times when our attention matters most.
Engage with students. Avoid lining up along the walls or gathering in groups during supervision. I know there’s plenty to say about the latest team drama, but let’s save those conversations for times when we’re not responsible for student safety.
Please stay off your phones and keep your focus on the students. The last thing anyone wants is to miss something critical because of a text or a sports recap. Be present, be alert, and stay connected with what’s happening around you.
We already do a great job of this—let’s stay sharp and finish the year like champions.

Song of the Week
Technically it's a dance, but the song is what makes it absolutely hypnotic.
This is taken from a series of black box films shot with dance students at the CLI Conservatory in Massachusetts. Martha Nichols, Choreographer. Music is "Surf Rider" by Il Est Vilaine. I am obsessed.
