Jag-Wire Weekly Parent Update, November 8, 2021

Pauline CentralPrimary SchoolJag-Wire Weekly Parent Update, November 8, 2021

This week at PC

This week our 3rd grade students participated in a wonderful celebration of our Veterans with our Veteran's Day Music program. It was such an honor to recognize our veterans with this special music program, and our hearts were full having all of our 3rd grade families together in the gym for this special event.

Thank you to Mrs. Lira for her long-standing tradition of excellence in music for our students.

Transportation Reminder

Kindergarten and 1st grade students will not be dropped off at their home if an adult or older sibling is not present.

Brrrr......It's COLD outside

As temperatures dip below freezing, it is important to make sure that your child has the appropriate winter gear for outdoor recess. Our students go outside for recess when the air temperature is above 15 degrees.

Please let us know if your child is in need of a winter coat, gloves, or hat.

Lost and Found

With all of the variations in temperature during recent weeks, quite a few jackets and coats have found their way into our lost and found. If your child is missing a jacket, please encourage him or her to check the lost and found. The lost and found is located next to the music room.

One of the best ways to ensure that your child's lost item is returned to him or her is to make sure your child's name is clearly marked somewhere on the item.

Important Update regarding Thanksgiving Lunch

It has been our tradition to invite parents and others to join the celebration, but unfortunately this year, Thanksgiving meals will be available only to students. Our Thanksgiving meals attract several hundred guests in each school, and as much as we enjoy families and others celebrating this event with students, the next few weeks are not the ideal time for such high traffic in schools. Our goal this year is to keep students in school so we are reviewing each larger scale event on a case by case basis. We look forward to resuming with this special activity next Thanksgiving.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to provide an outstanding school experience for your students.

Second Step Resource

Our staff continue to prioritize the social emotional learning for our students. Second Step programs are research-based, teacher-informed, and classroom-tested to promote the social-emotional development, safety, and well-being of children from Early Learning through Grade 8.

Your child participates in these lessons designed to help students have more positive attitudes toward themselves and others, show more positive social behaviors in school, and have fewer conduct problems. This results in greater school connectedness, which helps keep students safe and out of trouble.

Character Trait for November: Gratitude

The character trait of gratitude involves feeling and expressing a deep sense of thankfulness in life, and more specifically, taking the time to genuinely express thankfulness to others.

Thank you to PTO cookie dough volunteers

Thank you to all of our PC and PS school families for your support of our fall cookie dough fundraiser. We had a tremendous response!

Also, thank you to the following parents:

Stacy Jaramillo

Pauline Schools PTO Needs YOU!

We had a great turn-out for our November meeting and we brainstormed many exciting ideas for our school community. Our PTO meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Everyone who is a parent of a student at Pauline South and Pauline Central is a member of PTO. We encourage anyone who would like to attend or participate in any way to contact our PTO president, Bailee Crawford at crawford_bailee@yahoo.com.
