Greatness On The Horizon - Live The Mission
A Message From Mrs. Gabriela Elliott, Campus Principal
Greetings Ravens! Thank you for joining us for parent teacher conferences last week and Coffee with The Principal. We also had a large group of students that attend the district Career Showcase this Saturday. Thank you teachers and parents for participating in such a great event. 54 days of INSTRUCTIONAL GREATNESS in the books!!! We are getting ready for Week 3 of Marking Period 2.
Our weather is forecasted to get much cooler. Please make sure your children bring sweaters and jackets to school. We will follow our inclement weather protocol. Any temperature below 40 degrees will keep our Ravens inside.
A special Shoutout to our Football and Volleyball Teams for their big wins this first week. Our cross country team also had their first meet and we had several of our athletes place. Great start to the seasons.
This last week, we also celebrated our scholars with A and AB Honor Roll and our scholars with perfect attendance, over 300 students!!! Great work RAVENS!!! And a special shoutout to our wonderful counselors and our parent volunteers that assisted us with the celebration. Please click on the embedded links below for pictures and highlights.
Power Hour continues in full swing and helps our Ravens get better every day. Please note, Power Hour (tutoring) transportation will not be provided because very few students are riding the bus and the routes are getting home very late. We will be providing an afternoon snack. Lots of Greatness On The Horizon!
Attendance: Congratulations to 6th grade for being the grade level with the highest attendance, 97.16%. They earned free dress tomorrow, 10/30/23. In second place is 7th grade, 96.43% and in 3rd is 8th grade with 96.13%. Go Ravens!!
Buses: It is bus safety. Please speak to our Ravens about bus expectations and ensure they have a bus ID to check in and out of the route.
Capturing Kid's Hearts: Please read attached newsletter for our November Theme: Teamwork.
What is Teamwork?
Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills.
Why focus on Teamwork?
- Teamwork improves communication: Teamwork helps us improves our verbal and non-verbal communication skills, conveying that we care and a relevant message.
- Teamwork builds interpersonal awareness: Growing a great team requires us to first build strong relationships through better understanding ourselves and others.
- Teamwork celebrates diversity. Teamwork thrives from diverse ideas that come from a mixture of different genders, cultures, expertise, experience, and problem-solving approaches.
Teamwork in Action:
- Call them a team, not a class or group. A group consists of many different people. A team, however, has a common purpose and a shared responsibility for success.
- Require teams to set expectations for and manage their own behavior. Do not tell teams what type of behavior is expected -- let them decide for themselves with a Social Contract.
- Teach and encourage affirmations. Giving affirmations helps connect the team and builds trust, promotes engagement, and boosts a positive culture.
Fall Festival: Our date is November 3rd. We are looking at having a DΓa De Los Muertos Theme. We are looking for vendors. Tables are $25, only non food items please. Food trucks are $50 for the space. If interested please contact our secretary Ms. Jordan Martinez at 915-938-3005 or via email at amarti8898@sisd.net.
Fine Arts: November 2nd, we will be hosting our first Band and Orchestra concerts. Excited or our young musicians to show off their learnings to our Raven Parents.
Halloween: Students may wear their costumes to school on 10/31/2023. Please no masks, nothing gory or scary looking, and no type of weapons (fake or not). We will also be having a dance at the end of the day. 6th grade will be separate from 7th and 8th graders.
Respectfully,
Gabriela Elliott, Proud Raven Principal
