Bring Your Own Device Program
Dear DCHS Huskie Families and Students,
We are thrilled to share some exciting news regarding the upcoming school year at Douglas County High School. As part of our commitment to providing the best possible education and preparing our students to be successful in the future, we are continuing our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for the 2026-27 academic year. We are requesting each student bring a personal Chromebook or laptop to school each day as these devices will become powerful tools for learning, creativity, and exploration.
Here are a few reasons why we believe a one-to-one device program is beneficial for our school:
Enhanced Learning Opportunities: With individual devices, students can access a wealth of educational resources, collaborate with peers on projects, and engage with interactive learning materials tailored to their needs.
Personalized Learning: Leveraging technology to receive personalized instruction and support from teachers.
Preparation for the Digital Age: In today's digitally-driven world, proficiency in using technology is essential. BYOD prepares students for success in higher education and future careers by familiarizing them with digital tools and platforms.
Increased Engagement: Integrating technology into the learning process fosters a more dynamic and engaging classroom environment, capturing students’ interest and motivation to learn.
Recommended devices:
Portable devices with physical keyboards, running Windows, MacOS, or Chromebooks, are suitable for BYOD. Ideally, the device should be no older than six years for optimal performance.
While tablets can work, they're not recommended due to compatibility issues and the absence of a physical keyboard, which can hinder certain tasks.
A cell phone will not work for our BYOD initiative.
Chromebooks stand out as a top choice, offering a blend of affordability, security, automatic updates, and ease of use. These qualities facilitate seamless blended learning activities and streamline troubleshooting and content integration, contributing to enhanced teacher efficiency and student productivity.
We understand that some families may not be able to participate in the BYOD program. In such cases, we will have a limited number of devices available for checkout for the entirety of the school year. Please note that these devices will be allocated based on financial need on a first come first served basis. Click on the following link:
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the BYOD program or the upcoming school year, please see our BYOD frequently asked questions. We appreciate your support as we embark on this exciting journey toward a more connected and innovative learning environment.
