Mitch's Memo
It does not seem possible that we are in the last two weeks for the 21-22 school year. I would like to once again thank district patrons for the support and commitment shown toward the district in the passage of the levy during the April election. This commitment will allow us to continue providing a safe and quality education for West Nodaway students.
Change has been a constant during the last three years for West Nodaway and for education in general. Next school year will be no different. When we return next year, we will have a four-day school week. We are still making preparations for such, and if you have any questions, please let us know.
Overall, this year I have been pleased with our athletic coop with Nodaway-Holt. If you get the chance in the few remaining weeks of school, please get out and take in a baseball game. The team is competitive. Likewise, you still have a chance to attend a track meet. The track teams are making a good showing as well.
Sunday, May 8th @ 3:00 p.m. is Senior graduation. The last day of school for the 21-22 school year is May 13th with an early dismissal time of 12:15 p.m.
I want to wish you all a great summer, and if you have any questions or just want to visit, please stop by the office.

Elementary News
Wow! It's the end of the school year. What a great first year being back at West Nodaway. I am very proud to be a Rocket and look forward to the future. Next year will bring many changes to West Nodaway. I am dedicated and determined to provide the best education possible for our students.
We have several events during the first two weeks of May. Each class will be attending their annual field trip. Arrangements for these trips have already made, and we are set to go. I know students and teachers are excited about these trips.
May 2nd at 2:00 PM will be the 5th grade D.A.R.E graduation. Graduation will be held in the high school gymnasium. Parents and guests are welcome to attend. To celebrate completion of the D.A.R.E program, the 5th grade will also have a field trip to Maryville for a movie and lunch on May 5th.
May 4th is our spring music concert for Pre K-2nd grades at 6:30 PM in the high school gymnasium.
May 10th is Elementary Fun Day. Parents and guests are welcome to attend this event. This is always a fun day for students and staff, and we hope the weather cooperates. Many of the activities are planned to be outdoors and some include water. Students may wear bathing suits and swim trunks, but regular clothing must be worn over the swimsuits.
May 11th, the 3rd-6th grade students who earn the MAP incentive will going to Clarinda to swim for a few hours in the morning. Information with more details will be sent home with those students who qualify once our MAP testing has been completed.
May 12th will be the 4th quarter/end-of-year awards assembly. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 AM in the high school gymnasium. We will start with K-2nd grades, and 3rd-6th grades will immediately follow. Parents and guests, please come join us to honor and acknowledge the accomplishments of our students.
May 13th is the last day of school. We will dismiss at 12:15 PM, and parent pick-up will be at 12:05 PM.
Have a wonderful summer, everyone! I look forward to seeing everyone again in August!

I have also included the 22-23 school year immunization schedule. Required immunizations must be completed by the start of our school year, per Missouri State Law. If you need any information on these, please reach out. Please send records per fax or email to school once completed so I can get these all entered into medical records!
Thank you so much for all your help making our school year a success. We were challenged once again, but together we made it!
Counselor's Corner
As we wrap up this school year, we do a lot of preparation for the next one! By the end of this week, all students in grades 6-12 will have discussed schedules for next year.
8th Grade - Each 8th grader has at least started their four-year plan. Your 8th grader should have brought that home for you to see and sign. We will go over these together in August at Freshman Orientation. They will have an individual schedule emailed to them and their parents before I leave for the summer. More info on Freshman Orientation to come soon!
7th Grade and 9th-11th Grades - We are busy planning next year's course schedules. Once everyone is finished, I will email a copy to the student and the parent before I leave for the summer. If you have questions, or if there are changes you want made, you can email me over the summer, schedule an appointment to come in sometime, or make changes at registration in August.
6th Grade - Each of the sixth grade students had the opportunity to follow the sixth grade schedule during their Transition Days a couple of weeks ago. They will also have a new, individual schedule emailed to them and to parents.
Testing is almost complete, with only one EOC and some makeup testing to do.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all the parents that provided snacks for testing! I am always amazed at the generous donations, and they carry us through several days of testing in multiple classrooms. You are all so appreciated.
There are only a few days left. I hope each and every West Nodaway student has a safe and fun summer!
Also wishing the best to our 2022 Seniors as they begin their journey after high school. They are amazing people who are going to accomplish so much! Be sure to check out the Senior Spotlights that have been posted the past couple of weeks on our website, Facebook, and Twitter!
