Welcome to Summer Wellness
Summer is a time to rest, recharge, explore, and enjoy time together as a family. At Campbell County Public Schools, we care about the wellness of every student and family all year long.
This newsletter is filled with simple ideas, helpful resources, and family-friendly activities to support healthy minds and healthy bodies throughout the summer months.
Whether your family is staying busy or slowing things down this summer, we hope you’ll find encouragement, connection, and fun along the way.
Move More This Summer
Small Movement Makes a Big Difference
Children and teens feel their best when they stay active. Movement helps improve mood, sleep, focus, heart health, and energy levels, and it doesn’t have to mean organized sports or a gym membership.
Easy Ways to Get Moving
- Take a family walk after dinner
- Ride bikes around the neighborhood
- Play tag or flashlight hide-and-seek
- Visit a local park or trail
- Turn on music and have a dance break
- Stretch or do yoga together
Family Challenge
Create a “Movement Jar” filled with activity ideas. Let a family member choose one each day!
Quick Reminder
Experts recommend children get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, but every bit of movement counts.
Create Healthy Screen Time Balance
Helping Summer Feel More Balanced
Technology can be fun and helpful, but too much screen time can affect sleep, mood, focus, and physical activity. Summer is a great opportunity to create healthy routines and balance.
Try These Simple Ideas
- Keep devices out of bedrooms overnight
- Create screen-free meal times
- Encourage outdoor play before gaming
- Schedule family tech-free evenings
- Use screen time limits when possible
Family Tips
Instead of focusing only on reducing screen time, focus on adding:
✔ Outdoor time
✔ Reading
✔ Family connection
✔ Creative play
Conversation Starter
Ask your child:
“What is something fun you want to do this summer away from screens?”
