Celebrating the Work Behind the Growth!

As we continue the new school year, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work happening across Irvington Community Schools each day.

Last year, students across all three of our schools demonstrated tremendous academic growth. We are incredibly proud of that progress, and we know it did not happen by accident. It was the result of dedicated teachers, instructional assistants, our literacy coach, school leaders, support staff, and families working together to help our students succeed.

And we aren't stopping there.

Every child comes to us with different strengths and different needs. Some students need additional time and support to master important skills. Others are ready to be challenged beyond grade-level expectations. Our goal is to make sure every student receives the instruction, support, and challenge they need to continue growing.

That means our teachers are constantly looking at student progress and asking important questions: What does this student need next? Who needs additional support? Who has mastered this skill and is ready to go further? How can we make the most of every minute of instructional time?

This work is especially important as we continue addressing achievement gaps while also ensuring that students who are already achieving at high levels are challenged to reach even higher. Closing gaps and raising the ceiling must happen at the same time.

I am incredibly proud of the dedication I see across our schools. Our staff members study student data, adjust instruction, provide additional support, create opportunities for enrichment, collaborate with one another, and make countless decisions each day based on what is best for students.

Last year's growth showed us what is possible. This year, our goal is to build on that momentum and continue moving every Raven forward.

To our staff: thank you for the care, expertise, and energy you bring to this work every day.

And to our families: thank you for being our partners. Your encouragement, support, and belief in your children are an important part of their success.

Together, we will continue creating opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and achieve.

ICES- Read More. Show Up. Soar Higher.

  • This week we began our Team Up for Literacy challenge! Each week, we will reward the top reader from each class PLUS the classroom with the most minutes. This is for K-3 classrooms only. Our minutes will also count in the Indiana Sports Corp challenge and could make us eligible for some great prizes.

  • Miss Golding and Mrs. Pfiefer’s class enjoyed a popsicle party together for reaching our 95% attendance goal.

At ICMS, students are taking learning beyond the computer screen! Classrooms are filled with opportunities for students to engage with content, collaborate with one another, participate in meaningful discussions, and make real connections to what they are learning. We love seeing our Ravens actively thinking, talking, creating, and learning together!
