IMPORTANT: Ordering meals for your child

We will be sending out an email soon regarding ordering breakfast and hot lunch for August 31-September 30. This year, there will only be the hot lunch option. They have eliminated the cold lunch option due to lower number of orders each day.

K-8th grade: Remember that breakfast and lunch meals are free through the state of MN. Milk comes with every meal, so please do not order a milk unless you want your child to have two milks. You will only be charged if you order an extra entree and/or an extra slice of pizza.

PreK: There is a charge for PreK student lunches. Breakfast is not available.

We ask that if you order breakfast or lunch for your child, that your child eats the meal. If your child refuses to take a meal on a particular day, then Sacred Heart School must pay for the meal. We had many students that did not take breakfast last year and this resulted in a huge cost for our school.

We use Boonli website for parents to order meals. You will see a $10.00 fee the first time you order which helps cover the cost of this website.

Watch for an email very soon so you do not miss out on ordering meals for the 1st week of school.

Meet our New Spanish Teacher

Hola, My name is Flor, and I'm excited to be the new Spanish teacher at Sacred Heart!

Originally from Venezuela, I've spent many years teaching Spanish to Kindergarten through

eight-grade students, using songs, games, and grammar to make language learning fun.

My Catholic faith is the foundation of my life, guiding me to bring patience, kindness, and gratitude

to the classroom. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my college-aged daughter and my

small dog, as well as reading, staying active by exercising at home, and cycling outdoors.

I approach this new school year with faith and a proactive spirit, dedicated to building a

peaceful, harmonious, and respectful environment.

I look forward to a wonderful year!!

Meet our new Peace of Mind School Counselor

Hello! I’m Joann Ellefson and I am excited to be the new Peace of Mind Counselor at Sacred Heart. I have spent the last 45+ years as an educator, mainly as a counselor. I love helping students navigate through hurdles in their lives.

When I’m not at a school, I like to bike, bake, walk, spend time with family and friends and go fishing. I’m still trying to catch the elusive muskie!

I will be at Sacred Heart on Fridays. Feel free to contact me at jkellefson@comcast.net.

Volunteer 20 hours per Family, K-8 for the 2026-2027 School Year

Purpose:
At Sacred Heart Catholic School, we believe that parent and family involvement is vital to the success and strength of our school community. In order to foster this partnership, we require each family to contribute time and talent in support of school events, programs, and activities throughout the year.

Volunteer Commitment:
Each family is expected to contribute 20 volunteer hours per school year. These hours may be completed by any adult family member and should support school-sponsored activities, events, or committees.

Tracking Hours:
Families are responsible for logging their volunteer hours through our new volunteer tracking system called Salesforce. Instructions for signing up to volunteer will be provided at the beginning of the school year. After the event, the volunteer hours will be verified by the event chairperson.

Opt-Out Option:
Families who are unable to fulfill the 20-hour volunteer commitment may choose to opt out by paying a fee of $300 for the 2026-2027 school year. This fee will be assessed and added to your TADS account in April if volunteer hours have not been completed or reported by March 31st.

August: Service

Reclaiming Sundays---August

“Inviting to a meal people who are alone, visiting the sick, providing food for families in need, spending

a few hours in voluntary work and acts of solidarity: these would certainly be ways of bringing into

people’s lives the love of Christ received at the Eucharistic table.” Dies Domini 72

When we receive the love of Christ at the Eucharist it is right to go outward and share that love. Upon

reception into the Body of Christ it is natural for one to then seek to serve Christ’s body in the world.

SAMPLE ACTIVITIES FOR AUGUST:

• Serve at your parish. Every parish has some ministry opportunities that are

family-friendly (greeters, hospitality, etc.)

• Surprise a neighbor with a bouquet and some cookies.

• Who is someone in need of Christ’s love who you could reach out to?

• Is there an area of your neighborhood that needs a little TLC?

• Does your neighborhood participate in the National Night Out? If so, attend.

• How can the love that you have received at the Lord’s table be shared with others?

• Liturgical Living: August 15 is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed

Virgin Mary. Go to Mass, pray the glorious mysteries, put fresh flowers and a

Mary statue in your prayer space.

• Recommended resource to assist in building habits of prayer is the Hallow App.
