🧛 Share Your Feedback on This Year's Bear Scare
Dear Madrona Community,
Bear Scare has long been one of Madrona’s most beloved traditions—an evening where our community gathers to celebrate with games, activities, costumes, carved pumpkin contest, prizes, laughter, and plenty of memories made together.
This year, however, with the state of our school facilities and the uncertainty around parking lot completion, we want to thoughtfully assess how best to proceed. At the MIT meeting on Monday, we heard valuable feedback, and now we’d like to hear directly from you.
We’re asking for your input through a short Google survey (link below). Specifically, we want to gauge:
- Your interest in attending this year’s Bear Scare.
- Your willingness to volunteer to help make the event happen.
- Your thoughts on logistics, such as shuttle service to and from the school, since parking may not be fully available.
The event is tentatively planned for Friday, November 7, and we want to ensure the level of commitment and feasibility before dedicating the significant time and resources this celebration requires.
Your feedback will help us decide whether Bear Scare should move forward this year, and if so, how we can make it a safe, fun, and successful experience for all.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your thoughts, we truly value your input and your continued support of Madrona traditions.
Sincerely,
Bear Scare Committee Chairs
Chris & Farah Cavanaugh
With the amazing help of all the volunteers
💲 MIT Grants: Call for Submissions
"Grant" is just a fancy way of saying -- write up your idea to improve the school. The way you write it doesn’t need to be perfect - we will be looking at ideas, not spelling or grammar.
What are your ideas? Something educational? Something to support the learning environment? Ways to improve the campus maybe? Something artsy? Something STEM? A new event? An assembly?
Round 1 - $2,500 Available to Support Ideas for Improving Our School
Submitting an idea is easy, just fill out this short form!
If you feel you need assistance writing up your grant application for any reason, please reach out to your friendly Grant Administrator.
📖 Grant Administrator and Readers Needed
We are looking for a Madrona Grants Lead. 3 times a year, one time each quarter. Go though the submitted proposals and clarify anything that needs to be clarified. Gather a team and distribute to them the proposals that meet the grant submission criteria.

🧠 Madrona Enrichment Registration Postponed
Due to unforeseen circumstances and a recent change in district policy regarding outside vendors, we are postponing registration for the Fall Enrichment session.

Program costs may differ from what was printed on flyers that students may or may not have brought home

In the meantime, the most accurate and up-to-date information will be posted on the MIT Enrichment website.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

A Note from Your MIT Communications Coordinator
Hi! I'm Dan Hart, your friendly neighborhood MIT Communications Coordinator. I will be responsible for sending the weekly MIT newsletter on Sundays. My goal is to continue to keep this newsletter fresh, fun to read, and informative for the whole Madrona community!
You may notice that this email is a little lighter on images than usual. After some feedback, we've decided to move away from the use of AI images as part of our newsletter theme (other than when they are used as the graphic for a specific event). Instead, we'll be coordinating with the centers and Spark! to include student artwork in the newsletter. Watch for this in the near future!
🎁 Feedback is always a gift, and I invite you to give us the gift of your feedback!
Please email me with feedback and suggestions including, but not limited to:
- What do you like
- What could improve
- Suggest a theme
- Any other feedback or suggestions!

Do you have an article you’d like included in our weekly email? Please email your blurb to Dan at MITCommCoordinator@gmail.com or submit online by Friday at noon to be included the edition going out that Sunday. Please include if you’d like the article to run for multiple weeks.
