A Message from Principal Woofter A Message from Principal Woofter

We are wrapping up September in a big way!

Tonight we have our Back to School Night! Families and students are invited to attend between 5:30 and 7:00 pm at a time that works with your schedule. Students will be able to show their families the work they have been doing so far this year. Classroom teachers will have information and activities available for families to participate in either during the visit or to take home. Additionally, families can choose to visit our Specials Teachers, the Media Center, the Eagle Zone, or check in with Mrs. Hartley or Mrs. Laura. Our District curriculum newsletter is linked here for information about the content standards that are covered in our elementary schools.

Tomorrow is our Fun Run! All the event information and a schedule of when grade levels will be participating is included below. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day to enjoy being outside!

We are excited to have two 4th grade students representing Archer Glen in the Homecoming parade tomorrow evening! Rory Foo and Henry Herndon will be joining student representatives from the other elementary schools as the parade makes its way from the starting point at Charter School to Sherwood Middle School. The parade begins at 4:00 pm and we hope to see our families there!

One last note, we have updated our Parent/Student Handbook on our website for your reference. Looking forward to seeing our school family tonight!

Kindly,

Sarah

Back to School Night, Thursday, 9/25, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm Back to School Night, Thursday, 9/25, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm

Archer Glen's Back to School Night is tonight, Thursday, September 25th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. We will be doing an open house-style event and students are welcome to attend with their parents! There will be no set session times, instead families can attend during the open house timeframe that works best for them and their busy schedules. Families can visit classrooms and participate in some of the curriculum activities students have been engaged in, visit our PE/Music/STEM classes, explore the Archer Glen campus, and get information about our parent volunteer group, PAC, and other community resources that are available.

With so many families visiting classrooms during our Back to School Night, this will not be a time for teachers to talk to each family about student progress. Time will be provided for these conversations during conferences at the end of October. Please save the date and plan to join us for a wonderful evening where your students get to show off what they have been learning so far this year!

Archer Glen's Fun Run is Tomorrow! Friday, 9/26 Archer Glen's Fun Run is Tomorrow! Friday, 9/26

Hello Archer Glen Community,

The day we've been waiting for is finally here! Our annual Fun Run fundraiser has officially kicked off, and the students are already so excited after our assembly today. This is not only our most anticipated event of the year but also our largest fundraiser to support student education and enrichment. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000 to directly benefit every student at Archer Glen!

How to Participate & Key Dates:

Students are encouraged to collect monetary donations from family, friends, and neighbors. All donations are due tomorrow, September 26th, the day of the Fun Run.

  • Online Donations: The easiest way to donate is online via Square. Please note that our Venmo is temporarily offline and should not be used for this fundraiser.

  • Cash/Check Donations: Students brought home a fundraising envelope to collect cash and check donations. Extra envelopes are available in the office.

Spread the Word & Get Others Involved!

One of the best ways to help our students is by simply asking others for support! We've created a pre-written email message you can easily copy and paste to send to family and friends. It makes asking for donations quick and easy!

Prize Incentives!

We've got some amazing incentives to keep our students motivated! In addition to the thrill of the run, students can earn prizes based on how much the school raises collectively.

School-Wide Prize Tiers:

  • Water bottles & Fun Run shirt

  • Music at lunch

  • Crazy/Mismatch Spirit Day

  • Staff Styles Day

  • Extra Assembly

  • Principal/Staff Pie in the Face

  • Mystery School Prize!!

Classroom Grand Prize:

  • The classroom that raises the most money will earn a special field trip to Adam's Screenprint, where they will get to design and watch their own unique T-shirts being made!

Tax Deductibility & Matching Gifts:

Did you know your donation could go even further? As a non-profit organization, we are eligible for matching gifts from many employers, and your donation is tax deductible (please consult your accountant for tax guidance).

If you need a receipt for your employer’s matching gift program, or for your tax records, please contact our treasurer at archerglenpactreasurer@gmail.com. Your request for a Matching Gift Receipt will also ensure your employer matching gift is counted toward prize goals!

Fun Run Day Details:

The Fun Run will be held on Friday, September 26th. Students will run laps on the outdoor Archer Glen track. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to come watch and cheer on your students! We will also have a sign-making station this year. Please check in at the back of the school underneath the covered play area.

Thank you for your incredible support!

New! Friendly Reminder from PE New! Friendly Reminder from PE

We’ve noticed some students arriving to PE with injuries that the PE teachers haven’t received any communication about. To help us keep your child safe and make the best accommodations, we ask that any injury be communicated with a note or email from home, or documentation from a doctor. This helps us understand the situation, know when it’s safe for your child to return to full activity, and provide the right support. If you send an email, please direct it to your child’s classroom teacher, and they will forward it on to us in PE. Thank you for helping us keep all of our students safe and active!

Library Media Center Update Library Media Center Update

Welcome back to the Library Media Center! We are excited to have all the students back in the building.

We have been busy getting ready for students to start checking out books again. As we prepare to start seeing all of the students during their classroom library time, please check your child’s account on ParentVue to see if they still have any lost/damaged book fees from previous years. Children with outstanding library fees will still be allowed to check out a book at the start of the school year, but the lost book fee will remain on your child’s account.

Payment for any lost or damaged items may be made online through ParentVue or if you prefer to send in cash or a check, please be sure to include your child’s name and grade so that we can apply the payment and clear the book fee.

For more information or to view Sherwood’s full Library Media Center Policy, please click here or visit the school website.

We can’t wait to see all the new books our students discover during their library visits this year!

Our Archer Glen Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is creating an updated email list for school information and other ways to support our school. If you are looking to volunteer at Archer Glen this year, please sign up using the link shared here. If you are new to Archer Glen you will need to create a new login. Past volunteers can use their old sign in. (Please note that this link does not work well on your phone so you will need to use another device).

ALL parents will need to fill out their information again as the system gets updated each fall. The registration will ask some questions about volunteer preferences, please still answer the questions and select all activities you might be interested in learning more about!

You can find out more information about how to sign up for volunteer opportunities at Archer Glen using HelpCounter by visiting Archer Glen PAC's Instagram handle here.
