From the Principal
Welcome to our first school newsletter for 2020. 2020 marks our 70th Anniversary and details will soon be sent for our celebratory event on Saturday 4th April (10am-2pm).
To say that it has been a somewhat unorthodox start to the year would be an understatement. Off the back of the fires and then flooding combined with the complexity of corona virus, the term has certainly moved quickly.
Year 7 and our new 8-11 students have settled and I would like to thank all of the parents, staff and students who have ensured a strong start to the year.
In the newsletter below you can read more about a number of new staff who have joined us this year. I’m in the very fortunate position of seeing things first hand and the level of experience in our 2020 staff is exceptionally strong and our significantly enlarged co-curricular, enrichment and clubs program is quite incredible. Thank you to all of the staff for their work around these and to our Head Teacher Co-Curricular Programs, Antoinette Pipio, for her coordination. Our long term wish of a large program that provided all students with opportunities in the Arts has come to fruition and under the leadership of our Head Teacher CAPA, Anthony Vassallo, there are now 14 tutors, conductors and coaches working alongside the teaching staff. To see students accessing enrichment art, dance, drama and music lessons is a highlight of each day at school.
To date, our Year 7 and 11 camps have been held and both have been a huge success. Thank you to all of the staff for taking time away from families and to the students and parents for ensuring that both camps were a success.
Finally, thank you to all families for the payment of accounts and generous tax deductible donations to the building and library fund. This has greatly helped with our 2020 planning and we will place an order next week to upgrade 10 classrooms with new furniture at a cost of $100,000. The goal is to complete 20 rooms before the end of the year with furniture that will support teaching and learning in all faculties.
I look forward to seeing many parents on Thursday March 12 (Week 7) with both the P&C AGM and a special presentation by the US State Department covering entry into US colleges. The evening will commence at 6pm and bookings using this link are essential given that all schools in greater Western Sydney have been invited.

Thank you as always for your ongoing support of the school.
