ArtWorks Live!
For over 70 years, CAL has used the arts as a catalyst to close learning gaps by equipping PreKβ12 youth with critical thinking, creativity, and social-emotional skills needed to succeed in school, careers, and life, building stronger communities along the way. One of our community programs, ArtWorks, is a paid arts apprenticeship where high school students are enrolled as apprentices and collaborate with professional teaching artists across disciplines like visual art, music, media, and more. In addition to artmaking, apprentices gain valuable workforce development skills such as communication, leadership, interview skills, teamwork, resume-building, and project planning.
This fall, our apprentices are planning and curating the ArtWorks Live! Youth Art Fest, a public event designed to celebrate youth creativity across the region.
Youth Art Fest Event Details
ArtWorks Live! Youth Art Fest | Saturday, December 6
3:00 to 6:00 PM
Disciples Christian Church, Cleveland Heights
The event will feature a curated gallery of youth artwork, live performances, and a youth vendor market. All submissions will be reviewed by the youth apprentices, who are leading the entire process from start to finish as part of their professional development.
We are currently accepting applications from youth ages 14 to 19 who are interested in:
Showcasing original visual artwork
Performing live (music, dance, spoken word, etc.)
Vending and selling creative products such as artwork, prints, or handmade goods
It is free to apply and free to participate if selected for the gallery or performance. There is a $20 fee only for those selected to vend, which covers the cost of a vendor table.
The deadline to apply is Thursday, November 6 at 11:59 PM.
Application link: https://9lkqf6k7.paperform.co (please make sure youth read all instructions/guidelines before beginning the application)
Those who submitted can expect to hear back from the apprentices on or around November 19 regarding if they were accepted to showcase or vend. If accepted, they will receive instructions on dates and times to come and drop off their work/set up their table for vending. Should anyone have any questions please don't hesitate to have them reach out to our apprentices via the email communityprograms@arts-inspiredlearning.org.
