High School Happenings
METHACTON HIGH SCHOOL NEWSLETTER: October 3, 2025
WE HAD OUR SUCCESSFUL SAFETY DRILL THIS WEEK:
September Intruder Drill Was on 9/30!
Methacton High School held a lockdown drill this week. The teachers have been taking the students through procedures for a lockdown drill in preparation and this week we practiced a building wide lockdown drill. The drill was conducted with the cooperation and participation of local law enforcement and Montgomery County Public Safety Office partners . The teachers and students did an outstanding job! The drill was conducted efficiently and there was minimal impact to classroom instruction. During lunches, we walked students through the proper procedures if something were to happen during lunch. The safety of your children is our utmost priority. Again, students and staff did an outstanding job.
Our SECURE and SEVERE WEATHER drills will happen within the next week.

EVOLV Security Screening System:
What is it?
As part of our continued commitment to safety, Methacton High School will begin implementing an additional layer of security by utilizing the Evolv Touchless Screening System at select large-scale events. Its first use will be at the Homecoming Dance on October 4, 2025.
The Evolv system is a state-of-the-art detection system commonly used at public event entrances. Attendees walk right through as the system scans for threats in real time without requiring students to empty pockets. If a possible threat is detected, security staff are alerted immediately and may conduct a secondary check. The Evolv system doesn’t track or record student identities, but it dramatically reduces risk by adding an extra layer of protection for everyone in attendance.
We want to reassure families that there are no known threats related to the Homecoming Dance. The use of the Evolv screening system is simply a precaution and part of our ongoing effort to strengthen safety at large school events. From time to time, you may see this system used at other large gatherings, as we continue to make sure we have thorough safety measures in place for our school community.
Notice for this event: Small clutches and bags carrying personal medical devices will be checked at the door. All other bags and or backpacks are prohibited at this event.
We appreciate your support as we introduce this layered safety measure.
