Campus Safety and Security
Lagway Visitors
Have your ID ready at the door.
Our top priority is keeping your child safe while at school. To help with this, here are the procedures for entering the front office:
All campus doors stay locked at all times.
To come inside, please ring the doorbell located on the right side of the front center doors.
When a staff member answers, they will ask the reason for your visit and request that you show your valid ID to the camera.
After your information is verified, you will be buzzed into the front vestibule.
Please do not hold the door open for anyone else. Everyone must follow these same steps.
Once inside, please check in at a Raptor Kiosk or with our friendly front office staff.
Thank you for helping us keep Lagway safe!
Raptor Safe App
We are excited to announce that WISD has adopted the Raptor Safe mobile app as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining visitor management in our schools. This app builds on our existing visitor procedures, offering a more convenient and secure check-in process for everyone.
What is the Raptor Safe App?
The Raptor Safe app offers a convenient and secure way for visitors to manage and verify their identity before arriving at a school. With the Raptor Passport feature, visitors can pre-verify their identity, allowing for a seamless sign-in process when they arrive on campus.
How Does It Work?
When visiting a school, visitors can use their secure QR code generated by the app to expedite the check-in process. QR codes automatically regenerate every 5 minutes to ensure security and prevent misuse.
Getting Started
The Raptor Safe app is available to all visitors across the district. To download the app, please visit
https://raptortech.com/raptorsafe-app/.

1st Grade: 11:15

Staying for a 2nd Lunch?
If you’re visiting more than one lunch period, please return to the front office after your first lunch to receive a new sticker for the next lunch. You’ll then be escorted back to the cafeteria to join the next group and follow the same procedures.
We look forward to seeing you in the cafeteria soon!
Lagway Car Riders
Car Rider Procedures
Please ensure your car rider sign is displayed for staff to see each day when you join the car line. For safety reasons, if you do not have a car rider sign, you’ll be asked to park and come inside to pick up your child. If you are needing a car rider sign still, please contact the front office to let them know. We appreciate your understanding as we work to keep all students safe.
Car Rider Line Information
Car Rider Line Videos: Please take a moment to watch our car line procedure videos. The easiest way for us to see your car rider sign is by hanging it from your rearview mirror using a "shorts" hanger - the plastic hanger with clips typically used in clothing stores to hang shorts or pants. Be sure to keep the sign visible until you reach the cone or curb where your child will be waiting.

Parent Involvement at Lagway
- At Lagway Elementary, we believe parents are vital partners in their child’s education. We encourage families to stay actively involved through regular communication, supporting learning at home, and participating in school events and decision-making.
- Research shows that when parents are engaged, students achieve more. That’s why we offer many opportunities for involvement, including Meet the Teacher Night, PTO, Watch D.O.G.S., family academic nights, parent conferences, and more.
- We’re committed to keeping parents informed through flexible meetings, ongoing updates, and an annual survey to gather your input. By working together, we can ensure every child receives the best possible education.
Background Check...
If you plan on volunteering at anytime during the school year, being a chaperone on a field trip, Watch D.O.G.S., or and WISD activity you will need to fill out a background check. It must be done every year! It takes up to 2 weeks to be processed so don't wait until you get the field trip info, do it now!
- You can check your volunteer status by logging back into the volunteer/observation application. You will not receive any written notification.
- Returning volunteers: it will only let you fill out your application if you use the forgot password link at the end of the returning volunteer paragraph.
- Make sure you update the teacher/school towards the end of the application.
Volunteer Guidelines
- Volunteers must fill out the Volunteer Application EVERY school year. See link below.
- Volunteers should be consistent, dependable, interested in making a difference, respectful and appreciative of teachers and students, and faithful to commitment.
- Volunteers should dress neatly and in accordance to the dress policy for the campus.
- Volunteers should consider things seen and heard at school confidential.
- While volunteering during school hours, it is not permitted to pop in unexpectedly in your child’s classroom.
- Volunteers should sign in with the receptionist to retrieve a paper badge from the campus for the day. Human Resources will not issue volunteer badges.
