We had a wonderful opening week here at North—filled with beaming smiles, sharp first-day outfits, and warm welcome-back high-fives. Thank you for being an important part of the D303 community, and here’s to a fantastic start to the year!

• Attendance Procedures: District Communications will be sharing the following message with families prior to the start of school. Please also include this or a variation in your family communication this week.

District 303 attendance procedures were updated and approved at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting. All district procedures are available in the CUSD 303 Student Handbook found in the Parent/Community tab in the Information column of the districtd303.org website.

Updates to the attendance procedures were made to bring consistency across all schools within the district and to clarify student attendance expectations. One example of an update is the removal of the pre-arranged absence procedure. This aligns with the definitions of excused and unexcused absences found in Section 2.2.

We have an opportunity for our District 303 families to not only obtain school supplies but also receive wraparound support to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.

Project Backpack, hosted by Elgin Community College, is run like a fun fair for kids, that also has community and family supports embedded throughout.

At this event, there will be an on-site dental clinic, as well as school physicals and immunizations...making it ideal for families that may struggle with getting these things turned in to your nurses.
