MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens. MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.

A Few Words From the Principal

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. This month was created to draw attention to the effects of bullying. Here at MT we encourage our students if they see something to say something and to be kind to everyone. According to the National Bullying Prevention Center, more than one out of every five students will be bullied this year. Help everyone to know that they belong here at MT.
  • Support others who have been hurt or harmed.
  • Treat others with kindness.
  • Be more accepting of people’s differences.
  • Help include those who are left out.

Next week we will be bringing our Red Ribbon Week activities to a close with a spirit week. Our students will have the opportunity to pledge to making healthy, drug-free choices, and make a commitment to be courageous leaders and act as positive role models.

Additionally, we invite local veterans and current service members who are close to the MTMS family to join us for donuts beginning at 7:45am followed by our school-wide assembly.

Please click here to share the name of any veteran you would like us to acknowledge and/or a veteran who will be attending.

Construction Updates

We are excited that construction will soon be underway at our school. However, in reviewing the additions to the back of the building, it was determined that we will need to make slight changes to the carloop traffic pattern (and a further loss of parking spots) to accommodate construction and equipment. Please see the photo below for the modified pattern. We will be out helping to guide traffic. With this change to the traffic pattern, parents will need to follow the car loop pattern and not take alternate routes or park in the parking lot. Thank you!

Kansas Communities That Care Student Survey

USD 232 will again provide the option for students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 to participate in the Kansas Communities that Care Student Survey. This survey is opt-in only, and students will not participate in this survey if permission has not been granted by parents/guardians.

If you want your child to participate, please complete the online permission form in Skyward Family Access (https://skywardq.usd232.org/Student) from October 21st to October 30th, 2026. The survey will be available and administered during our scheduled window of time, from November 3rd to January 30th. Students who are opted in will take the survey at school.

What is the survey?

The Kansas Communities That Care Survey is anonymous and available statewide. This survey is a valuable tool to help understand how students behave, think, and feel about alcohol, marijuana, and other drug use, bullying and school safety. The KCTC survey measures teen substance use, delinquency, and related problem behaviors in schools and communities. The survey gives insight into the problems students face and shows what can be done to help them succeed. The district also uses information from this anonymous survey to apply for grants that may help address students’ issues related to alcohol and drug use, bullying, and safety.

The survey is provided by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services, Behavioral Health Services Commission and administered by Greenbush – The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center, Research and Evaluation Department.

What are the survey questions?

We advise parents to review the survey questions, which are posted online. You may also be interested to know the following:

  1. It is completely anonymous. Students will not be asked for their names on the questionnaire, nor will anyone be able to connect any individual student with his/her responses. School staff will not see any one student's responses, but only summaries of results.
  2. Participation is entirely voluntary. Parental consent is required. Your child may decline to participate in the survey, even with parental consent, or skip any question they do not wish to answer.
  3. USD 232 will not participate in any of the optional modules related to “Family,” “Gender Identity,” and “Sexual Orientation.” Students will not receive those questions.

Students in Design & Modeling put their creativity and 3D design skills to work by creating personalized Minecraft-style bobbleheads of themselves using Tinkercad! After designing their models, students used Bambu Studio to prepare their designs for 3D printing, check print quality, and correct any errors. Once printed, students added their own unique details to bring their bobbleheads to life and make them a true reflection of their personalities. We’re excited for students to bring their creations home!
