β Principal's Message
Wayβ/Hello/Bonjour,
What a beautiful week for learning outdoors. It was wonderful to see all of our Discovery Day groups head to classes, outdoor spaces and various destinations around the community. Students have also been busy training for their Track and Field events and we look forward to our KLO Track and Field Day on Wednesday, May 6. This is a fun-filled day where students get to participate in some fun events, engage in various activities and celebrate with each other. What a great way to continue building our KLO community. A BBQ lunch will also be provided for all staff and students on this day. Thank you, KLO PAC! If any parent/guardians would like to volunteer to help, please contact Stephanie Harland at saharland@shaw.ca / 250-859-3603.
Students have been participating in learning about Red Dress Day, which will be observed on May 5th. This is a National Day of Awareness and remembrance for missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGTBTQI+ people. This learning is important as we strive to make our communities safe for all.
The KLO Archery team did an amazing job competing at Springvalley Middle School this week and we wish our competitors well this weekend, as they compete in Provincial and National competitions. And, congratulations to our KLO Band crew who competed in Whistler last weekend and came back with Silver in Jazz Band and Gold in Concert Band. Way to go, KLO!

π Attendance Matters
Coming to school regularly matters far more than many realize!
When students attend regularly:
They gain consistent access to instruction and hands-on learning
They get immediate feedback from teachers as they learn
They build friendships and develop social skills
They feel connected to their school community
These experiences are essential for both academic success and emotional wellbeing. If challenges arise, please reach out. We're here to help!
