VLA Summer Registration Open!

Lewisville ISD's Virtual Learning Academy (VLA) offers an optional 8-week accelerated summer term for students who want to get ahead or free up space in next year's schedule. Questions? Check out our VLA Summer FAQ Page.

The VLA Summer Course Request form will be open in Skyward through Sunday, May 17.

Important Dates:

Session 1 (Part A Courses):

May 26–June 18

Midterms: June 16–18

Session 2 (Part B Courses):

June 22–July 16

Finals: July 13–16

Drop Date Deadline: June 1

Summer 2026 course fees are as follows:

• $300 per 0.5 credit course
• $150 per 0.5 credit course if student receives Free/Reduced Lunch

Fees are posted when courses are scheduled May 19, 2026. Fees are due by May 26, 2026. Payment will be made in Skyward Family Access.

*TXVSN course fees set by outside providers range from $250– $400 per 0.5 credit. Non-LISD providers do not offer a discount for Free/Reduced Lunch.

Please consider carefully whether your student will be able to complete a course if they are away during the accelerated summer session. Canvas, the platform in which our students complete their work, may not be accessible outside the United States.

Our most common reason students are unable to complete coursework is that they get behind due to camps, tournaments, vacation, or internship obligations. Students can work ahead of the pacing guide in anticipation of being offline, but it is very hard to catch up after the fact. Summer courses typically require 2–3 hours of work per day; AP courses may require 3–4 hours per day to stay on pace.

VLA courses are not self-paced. Our assignments have deadlines, and late work is subject to VLA’s late work policy. VLA does not accept work after the end of the summer term.

If we do not offer the course a student is looking for, additional courses are available through non-LISD providers via the Texas Virtual Schools Network (TXVSN). Popular choices include Spanish III, French, Anatomy and Physiology, and Computer Science.

• TXVSN summer courses are not accessed in Canvas or Skyward; they use their own district platforms. Login information is typically sent by the course provider 2–3 days ahead of course start date.
• TXVSN courses operate according to their own start/end dates that may differ from VLA. TXVSN courses have a shorter drop window than LISD.
• TXVSN courses will populate the transcript and impact GPA/Rank just as VLA courses do.
