York High School Weekly Memo
Some thoughts for the starting school year

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are having a great week and staying warm. We kicked off the second semester with our first official snow day on Monday, so that will be a day we will make up in June. We have two full weeks left until February Vacation -- time is flying. Before we know it, we will see some flowers and green grass!
Enjoy the rest of your week. If you have any questions or need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thanks,
Amanda

Second Semester Schedules & Course Scheduling
Semester 2 Add/Drop
As we prepare for the new semester, we want to share the guidelines for the Add/Drop period as outlined in the 2025-2026 York High School Program of Studies. The Add/Drop window will be open for the first six days of the semester, for all S2 changes this period will be: Tuesday, January 27th, through Monday, February 3rd at 1:00 PM.
Qualifying Schedule Changes: To ensure every student is placed correctly, counselors will consider schedule changes for the following reasons:
A required course is missing from your schedule.
A prerequisite for a course has not been met.
You have been placed into a different course level than what was requested.
How to Request a Change If your situation meets the criteria above, please Complete This Form.
Counselors will review these requests alongside the administration. You and your teacher will be notified of the decision via email, though in some cases, your counselor may reach out to schedule a brief meeting to discuss the change further.
Important Reminders
Withdrawals: Any drop requests made after February 3rd at 1:00 PM must be submitted via the Course Withdrawal Request Form.
Electives & Logistics: Please note that we are unable to make changes to electives, study halls, dismissal times, or lunch blocks.
Level Changes: Level changes will only be considered if they align with the original teacher recommendation.
26/27 Course Recommendations & Course Scheduling!
HAPPENING NOW (Jan & Feb):
Teachers are making course recommendations for next year! If you have questions about the recommendation, please speak with your current teacher.
All students should be researching elective course options that interest them.
If there are any questions, reach out and have discussions with current teachers, counselors, and parents/guardians.
HAPPENING NEXT (Feb & March):
Students need to schedule an appointment to meet with their counselor to make their course requests between February 14 - March 16.
These meetings will be 15 minutes long, and students need to come prepared with knowledge of what electives they are interested in.
Being prepared for this meeting is very important and any students who are not prepared will need to reschedule.

It is designed after the Maine State government, where all students come together to create their own town, county, and state governing bodies. Simply put, Dirigo State is a combination of Boys State and Girls State, but that’s just the start. The Legion Family redesigned and strengthened both programs into a unique, first for the American Legion National Family, combined youth government leadership program.
