School Improvement Plan School Improvement Plan

The goal of a School Improvement Plan (SIP) process is to create a strong plan to raise student achievement in the school. It outlines the work that will be done during the year to meet the end of year student goals. It is based off of data about the school's performance from the previous year, and builds goals from that to increase student achievements. It is also regularly updated throughout the year if student work suggests that progress is not on track.

You can view a summary of the SIP below. Paper copy available upon request.

School Testing & Benchmark Data School Testing & Benchmark Data

RES uses a benchmark program called MAPs for Math and Reading. Students will take the MAP benchmark three times a year. The progress is tracked on the MAP Growth Family Report, which is individualized for each student. Teachers share this data with parents during our Family and School Team (F.A.S.T.) meetings, individual parent/teacher conferences, and at the end of the year with report cards. Another assessment used is called Amira Fluency.

Parent conferences are offered once in the fall and once in the spring, however, you may request a conference at anytime during the school year.

See the picture below for an overview of the assessments used at RES this school year.

Georgia Milestones

RES also uses the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS.) Students in grades 3-5 take these assessments in April. Click the link below to view more information about the GMAS.

The Georgia Milestones Assessment System is a comprehensive assessment program spanning 3rd grade through 8th grades.

Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in language arts, math, and science. Students in 3rd - 8th grade will take an End-of-Grade (EOG) assessment in English Language Arts and Mathematics, while 5th & 8th grade will also take tests in Science.

More importantly, the Georgia Milestones is designed to provide students with information about their own achievement and readiness for their next level of learning.

Family Engagement Policies for 2026 - 2027 Family Engagement Policies for 2026 - 2027

All Title 1 schools must supply a plan that is jointly developed by the school, parents, and family members. It is based on effective means of improving student achievement and includes strategies to support parent and family engagement.

This is called the Parent & Family Engagement Policy. This policy is reviewed every year, revised upon input from families, and approved at the Spring Parent Advisory Council. You will be asked to approve in the evaluation of this presentation.

As part of this plan, RES jointly develops, through meaningful consultation with parents, a School-Family Compact that outlines how families and our school will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state’s high standards. The school-wide compact stresses the importance of communication between families and teachers. RES families are given the opportunity to provide compact input through meaningful consultation with school staff throughout the school year. Parents have the opportunity to review and adjust the compact at Parent Advisory Council meetings. Family-School Compacts should be used at home and at school in parent-teacher conferences.

RES Parent & Family Engagement Policy
The School-Family Compact is included on pages 2-3 of this policy.

Spring Survey Results Spring Survey Results

Title 1 offers parent input through surveys conducted in the fall and spring. Parent Coordinators will share the cumulative results with parents at Advisory Council meetings, and with staff through meetings or trainings. These surveys help us understand what is most important to families, what we will keep doing, and what we can do differently to support them. The spring survey covers communication, programs, events, and information involving family engagement.
