Maple Run Connection
Weekly Update from Superintendent Bill Kimball Aug 25, 2025
March 16, 2026
Message from Superintendent Bill Kimball
Happy Monday, Maple Run Community!
What a wonderful week last week was! All across our Maple Run schools, we celebrated I Love to Read Week, a special time to share the joy of reading with students of all ages. From lively guest readers to fun activities, our hallways and classrooms were filled with stories, laughter, and learning. A very special thank you to the Saint Albans Rotary Club for organizing community guest readers and making the week so memorable, it was truly a joy to see our students and staff celebrating the love of reading together!
Last week also brought report cards home for our PreK–8th grade students, and this week we look forward to connecting with families during parent–teacher conferences. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate student growth, discuss next steps, and strengthen the partnership between families and schools.
Additionally, our yearly Family–School Relationships Survey is open! Thank you to everyone who has already shared feedback. If you haven’t had a chance yet, the survey takes about 10 minutes and your responses help us make our schools even more welcoming, supportive, and connected for every student and family. You can complete the survey here: Maple Run Family Survey Computers will also be available during conferences for families who wish to complete it at school.
As always, if you have questions, comments, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out: TapIn@MapleRun.org
Practical Suggestions to Try This Week:
-
Take a moment to read a story with your child, or share a favorite book from your own childhood, reading together is a simple way to connect.
-
Celebrate one small success each day, whether it’s a project completed, a kind word shared, or a goal reached.
-
Take a short walk outside to enjoy the signs of spring as the days get longer and warmer.
Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community for bringing curiosity, creativity, and connection to Maple Run every day. Let’s carry that energy into this week and keep celebrating learning together!
Your Voice Matters
Family Survey Open!
At Maple Run, strong schools are built through strong partnerships with families. Our Family–School Relationships Survey gives you the chance to share your thoughts, experiences, and ideas about how our schools are supporting students and families.
We ask the same questions as last year so we can compare responses over time, see what’s improving, and identify areas where we can do even better. Your feedback helps guide decisions, strengthen collaboration, and ensure every student feels welcomed, supported, and connected.
The survey only takes about 10 minutes and is open to all families. Computers will also be available at parent–teacher conferences if you’d like to complete it while at school.
Complete the survey here: Maple Run Family Survey
Thank you for taking the time to share your voice—your feedback truly helps us grow and improve as a district!

Wellness Tip of the Week
Mindful Reading and Connection
As we celebrate I Love to Read Week and enjoy the first signs of spring, taking a few mindful moments to slow down, read, and connect can boost both your mood and focus. Reading isn’t just for students: it’s a simple way for everyone to recharge, reduce stress, and spark creativity.
Practical Suggestions to Try This Week:
-
Read with intention: Set aside 10–15 minutes each day to read a favorite book, poem, or article, really savor the words.
-
Share the experience: Read aloud with a child, friend, or colleague. Stories create connection and spark conversation.
-
Take mindful breaks: Step outside after reading to notice the longer daylight, the melting snow, or signs of spring.
-
Reflect and journal: Jot down a favorite quote, idea, or thought from your reading. Small moments of reflection support focus and well-being.
Why It Matters:
Intentional reading and mindful pauses help reduce stress, strengthen focus, and foster connection with others. Taking these small steps reflects Maple Run’s values of Wellness, Community, and Curiosity, helping us show up fully for ourselves, our students, and our community.
Attendance Reminder
Attendance Matters – Every Day Counts
At Maple Run, regular attendance is key to learning, growth, and community. Our district goal is for 70% of students to attend school 95% of the time, and every day counts toward that goal.
As we head into parent–teacher conferences and spring activities, it’s a perfect time to remember how consistent attendance supports student learning, classroom engagement, and strong social connections.
Students who attend regularly are more likely to:
-
Stay on track academically
-
Build meaningful relationships with peers and teachers
-
Develop routines that support focus, well-being, and success
Attendance is important for staff, too. When educators are present and engaged, classrooms are calmer, learning is stronger, and students feel supported and ready to thrive.
Every member of our Maple Run community contributes to a culture of presence, connection, and belonging. Small efforts: arriving on time, staying engaged, and supporting each other, make a meaningful difference for everyone.
Let’s make every day count! Together, we can keep learning on track, build community, and finish the spring strong.
Be Here. Be Engaged. Be Inspired.
