Henry Happenings

October 5, 2025
Principal Message
At Henry Elementary, our core values guide everything we do — they shape our classrooms, our relationships, and the way we learn and grow together. We are proud to emphasize what it means to be a Henry Bulldog by living out our four core values:
-
Kind – We show care, compassion, and respect toward others.
-
Responsible – We make good choices, take ownership of our actions, and do our part to make our school a positive place to learn.
-
Persevere – We keep trying, even when things get tough, and celebrate progress through effort and determination.
-
Inclusive – We value and celebrate everyone for who they are, ensuring all students feel seen, heard, and supported.
To bring these values to life, our half days are dedicated to Buddy Classroom Time, where older and younger students come together to learn, collaborate, and practice our core values in meaningful ways. These cross-grade connections help build a stronger school community and give students the opportunity to demonstrate kindness, responsibility, perseverance, and inclusivity in action. Our next half day, on Wednesday, October 8, students will have the opportunity to meet up with their buddies again!
Thank you for reinforcing these values at home and helping our Bulldogs grow into caring, responsible, and resilient learners who make Henry a special place to be.

Henry School Cookbook
We’re cooking up something special—our very own Henry Cookbook! In an effort to celebrate the wonderful mix of cultures, traditions, and favorite foods that make our school community so unique, we would like to create a Henry School Cookbook with your help!
Please send us one of your favorite recipes to include—whether it’s a treasured family dish passed down through generations or a simple meal that always brings smiles around your table. We would love for every family to be part of it!
Please fill out the Google Form to share your recipes. Together, we’ll create a cookbook full of flavors and stories that reflect the heart of our school family. The recipes and pictures will be displayed in our cafeteria, allowing all students to see their favorite recipes represented. At the end of the year, we will share a digital cookbook with all of the recipes. Let’s make this something delicious to share for years to come!
*Save the Date! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Henry. Shopping starts at the donut breakfast on Saturday 11/1, and the book fair will run the week of 11/3-11/7. More information will be coming soon!
*Check out our Henry Library page for information on Sora, Novel Effect, and other fun activities you can do at home!
*Is your child forgetting to return their library books? Here's a tip: Set an alarm on your phone for the morning of your child's library day. This will remind you (and them) to grab your books to return!
Nurse Update
Dental Safari is coming to Henry Elementary on October 14. Forms were sent home this week to sign your student(s) up for a dental cleaning and sealants if needed. If you prefer to complete this online, please use the link below. This is a convenient way to see the dentist right here at school and promote good oral hygiene at an early age. Please contact me if you have any questions. Forms should be returned to Nurse Baker as soon as possible.

Middle School Greece Opportunity
Hello,
As a fellow parent and teacher in the district, I wanted to reach out and share an incredible educational opportunity with you.
I am a high school art teacher at Fern Ridge, and I am organizing a trip to Greece for July 2027 through EF Tours. While it may seem far away, the trip is specifically designed for students who will be entering middle school, making your current 4th and 5th graders the ideal age group. I want to give families ample time to plan, especially for those who may need to explore fundraising or scholarships.
There will be a mandatory information meeting on October 22nd at Central High School.
Warmly,
Dr. Diana Warren, MAHSAM, EdD

Stock the Lounge
**ATTENTION 4TH GRADE PARENTS!** We need your help to stock the lounge for our dedicated teachers, staff, and administration this September. Please visit the Sign Up Genius link to contribute and drop off your items at the school office by October 10th. Your generosity will help keep our amazing school team energized and appreciated.
Culver's Restuarant Night Volunteers
We have a Culver's "Share Night" (restaurant night) on Tuesday, October 14th. As part of Culver's “Share Night,” they require that we have 1 adult volunteer and 4 youth volunteers per hour for the duration of the event (or we could have 2 adults and 3 youth or 3 adults and 2 youth or 4 adults). As a volunteer, you will receive a Culver's apron and nametag, and then be responsible for delivering food to customers. (You will wash your hands and will need to continue to wash hands during your shift.) We recommend the youth volunteers be in grades 2-5 as they will be walking outside to deliver food to customers and will need to be able to find the correct car and number. If you have a student who is younger and wants to sign up, you can do that but you need to plan to stay and assist the student as well (even if the 1 adult volunteer is signed up for the hour). **PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU SIGN UP THAT YOU KNOW FOR CERTAINTY YOU CAN ATTEND. Culver's is counting on the volunteers and it will be difficult to replace on short notice.**
Please sign up on the link below. Signups are on a first come, first serve basis.

Staff Bulldog Brag
Did you know that families can recognize staff members with Bulldog Brags, just like we do for students? If you or your child notice a staff member demonstrating one of our Henry Core Values—Kind, Responsible, Persevere, or Inclusive—we invite you to share it using the button below.
Each staff member who receives a Bulldog Brag will be honored with a certificate and a special surprise. As part of our character education, it is important for students to see adults modeling these values every day—and to hear real examples of what they look like in action!
