Meet the Principal
From Mr. Wilkins
Dear Rocket Family,
I would like to begin by introducing myself and saying what an honor it is to serve as the principal of Person High School. Although I have only been part of the Rocket family for a short time, I have already experienced something truly special. From my very first week in the building, I have witnessed an incredible sense of pride, loyalty, sincerity, and genuine love for this school and the Person County community. It has only strengthened my excitement about joining this outstanding school and the opportunities that lie ahead for the 2026-2027 school year.
To help everyone prepare for the start of the school year, we wanted to share an abbreviated edition of The Rocket Dispatch with a few important updates for students and families. In this edition, you will find information about student schedules and the schedule change process, updates to the 2026-2027 bell schedule, transportation information for returning bus riders, and details about Freshman Orientation and Open House, both of which will take place on Tuesday, August 11.
We look forward to welcoming our newest Rockets during Freshman Orientation on August 11 and to seeing all students and families at Open House from 5:00-7:00 that evening. These events are a wonderful opportunity to meet teachers and staff and get prepared and excited about the year ahead.
Our first full edition of The Rocket Dispatch will be shared with the Person High School community on the evening of August 2. It will include additional information and important reminders to help ensure a successful start to the school year.
On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, thank you for your continued support of Person High School. We cannot wait to welcome our students back to campus and begin what promises to be an outstanding school year. Go Rockets!
Student Registration & Schedules
Returning Student Registration & Bus Transportation Requests
Attention PCS Families: Returning student registration for the 2026-2027 school year is NOW OPEN!
Complete your child's registration as soon as possible to ensure everything is ready for the start of school. School will begin on Aug. 17, 2026.
Returning student registration must be completed in order to view a student's schedule in the InfiniteCampus Parent Portal once they are released.
Need bus transportation on the first day of school?
To guarantee transportation is in place for the first day of school, your returning student registration must be completed by Friday, July 24.
Follow this link to begin registration: https://www.pcsnc.org/page/student-registration-hub
If you have questions about your registration status or problems accessing the Parent Portal, please contact Melonie Carpenter at carpenterm@person.k12.nc.us.
Student Schedule Release
Student schedules will be available to view in the Parent Portal of Infinite Campus Thursday, July 23, at 4:00 p.m.
Please note that student schedules will not be available through the Student Portal at this time.
Therefore, PARENTS/GUARDIANS, please make sure you have completed the 26-27 online student registration in order to access the schedule. If your online student registration for the 26-27 school year has not been completed, you will receive an informational message when you log into the Parent Portal.
If you have questions about your registration status or problems accessing the Parent Portal, please contact Melonie Carpenter at carpenterm@person.k12.nc.us.
Schedule Corrections
Please understand that schedule correction options are very limited. Staffing, class sizes, and course availability were all planned based on students’ original requests from Spring registration. For this reason, new course requests or changes are unlikely to be made.
Students, fill out the Schedule Correction Google Form from your PCS email address no later than August 2, 2026, if you wish to request a course correction for one of the following reasons:
● Graduation requirements not satisfied;
● Did not request the course as a primary or alternate;
● Prerequisite not satisfied;
● Dropped PCC course and/or PCC concern; or
● Schedule is incomplete.
* Requests made by email or phone call will NOT be accepted. Please use the Schedule Correction Google Form. Having all requests submitted through one form allows our student support staff to track them carefully and ensure that no request is overlooked. *
Keep in mind:
- If the course was selected during your spring registration, it cannot be changed.
- Requests to change teachers or be in classes with friends will not be honored.
- Students will need to be logged in to their PCS email account to submit this form.
- The Schedule Correction form will close promptly on August 2nd, at midnight. No requests will be considered after August 2nd.
SENIORS-ONLY ACADEMIC RELEASE
GRADUATING SENIORS who are scheduled for a non-required course at the beginning or end of their day for the fall semester may request academic release. This allows graduating seniors to have a modified day as long as they are scheduled for all remaining graduation requirements. Graduating seniors requesting academic release must have their own transportation to and from school. These requests must have parent permission and admin approval. Please complete the 2026-2027 PHS Academic Release Form (Fall) to request academic release. (Academic Release is approved by semester. If you would like to request Academic Release for the spring semester, a form will be released in December for you to complete.)
**Important Clarifications:
If your schedule includes “Credit Recovery OR Online Course,” this means:
You are EITHER recovering credit for a previously failed course OR
You are taking a synchronous NC School of Science and Math course at that time.
If your schedule includes “PCC Course Future Course,” this means:
You have been registered for a PCC course at that time and will be on PCC’s campus.
You should have received your PCC registration/schedule via email earlier this summer; if you did not receive your PCC registration/schedule, contact Walter Montgomery at: walter.montgomery@piedmontcc.edu
In either case, the name of the actual course(s) assigned will appear (later) in your schedule in P6. P6 is not an extended school day—it simply indicates the name of the course assigned during the “Credit Recovery OR Online Course” class period.
