Happy 25th Anniversary To The Very First Judy Centers in Maryland!! Bring on Spring at the Judy Center!!
We are pleased to announce the 25th Anniversary of the first Judy Center Early Learning Hubs in Maryland! Queen Anne's County was proud to be one of the first Judy Centers in the state of Maryland. We look forward to sharing information with you in the coming months, as we plan our big celebration to mark our 25th Anniversary!! Stay tuned for exciting plans to celebrate with us!
It's finally beginning to look like Spring, after a very cold and snowy Winter in Maryland. We will begin the month of March by celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday and then playgroup friends will be visiting Sultana Education Center to learn lots of fun facts about bees. March is "National Nutrition" month, and Tina Squibb, Nutrition Educator and Project Leader from Maryland SNAP-Ed will visit the Judy Center. Tina will provide another parent and child lesson focused on raising a food explorer.
During the month of March, playgroup friends will be engaged in lots of artistic fun as they create shapes in different sizes, Fruit Loop rainbows, paper suncatchers, handprint four leaf clovers, and homemade playdough to help bring on the Spring! Be prepared to get messy in the art center as we begin to celebrate springtime and learning all about shapes and sizes during creative art time.
Frog Street Lesson Theme for March-Shapes and Sizes/Formas y Tamanos
In March, all playgroups will focus on the following Frog Street curriculum theme: Shapes and Sizes
Week 1/Primera semana-Circles/Circulos
Week 2/Segunda semana-Squares/Cuadrados
Week 3/Semana tres-Triangles/Triangulos
Week 4/Cuarta semana-Hearts and Stars/Corazones y estrellas
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss
The rhyming structure of Dr. Seuss's books allows children to naturally learn about word families and begin to create a mental library of sounds. Dr. Seuss's books have been popular around the world for decades. They are fun, silly, and great to read.
The rhythm and repetition of words promote brain development in children, helping them learn how language works, develop memory, and build solid foundations for learning. Reading rhyming books to babies and young children is important because it helps them develop a love for learning and prepare for communication.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Two interesting facts about St. Patrick's Day: 1) Irish immigrants began celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Boston in 1737, and 2) The first St. Patrick's Day parade was held in New York City in 1766.
Check out the video found below for a delicious Irish soda bread recipe. You may want to bake this popular bread to accompany your corned beef and cabbage. Erin Go Bragh or Ireland Forever!
