💡 Tech Tips for All
Everyday tech tips to help you stay organized, connected, and confident.
💳 Printing without Badge
No Badge? No Problem! Printing with Follow Me
Forgot your staff badge at home? You can still grab your prints from any Follow Me printer using your staff code.
Step 1: Find your staff code
Log in to Infinite Campus and open the Search feature. Change the default Type from "Student" to "Staff," then type in your last name. Your four-digit code appears under your name after a hashtag, like this: #1234.
Step 2: Enter it at the printer
At the printer's touch screen, tap the keyboard icon in the upper right corner and enter your code manually. Then continue with your print job as usual.
Tip: Once you've found your code, jot it down or save it in your phone so it's handy the next time your badge is missing.
🌐 Google Launches Gemini 3.5 Live Translate
Communication just got a major upgrade across our district! Google has officially launched Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, an advanced audio model designed to bring near real-time, speech-to-speech translation right to your mobile device.
Available now in the free Google Translate app on both iOS and Android, this tool gives educators, staff, and families a seamless way to connect across native languages.
What Makes It Different?
Older voice translation tools required a rigid "speak, pause, wait, and listen" back-and-forth. Gemini 3.5 Live Translate changes the dynamic by listening and translating continuously.
Preserved Expressiveness: Rather than outputting a robotic voice, the model maintains the original speaker's pitch, natural pacing, and emotional tone.
70+ Languages Supported: Automatically detects and translates spoken dialogue across more than 70 global languages.
Fluid Conversation Flow: Translates continuously just a few seconds behind the speaker, eliminating awkward stops and keeping dialogue natural.
Practical Ways to Use It in Our District
Front Office: Welcome new families instantly without language barriers during enrollment or drop-offs.
Field Trips & School Tours: Android users can take advantage of a specialized "listening mode" to hear real-time English audio through their phone's earpiece while a guide presents in another language.
Important Note for Conferences & Calls Home: For official parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, or phone calls home, please continue to utilize our official district resources. You can request professional human translation and interpreter support via the Interpreting Services page on our Staff Resource Portal.
How to Try It
Download or update the free Google Translate app on iOS or Android.
Open the app and select Live translate.
Choose your language pair, put in your earbuds, and start talking!

⚡Must Know Keyboard Shortcuts
⌨️ Quick Keys: Find
You might recognize this tip from our February 2026 edition. Ctrl + F remains our single most helpful keyboard shortcut and is well worth sharing again as a quick Back-to-School refresher!
Looking for a specific word or phrase on a webpage or in a document? Instead of scanning line by line, try Ctrl and F.
Press Ctrl and F on your keyboard and a small search box will appear. Type in the word or phrase you are looking for, and your browser or document will instantly highlight every match. You can use the arrows in the search box to jump between results.
This shortcut works in Chrome, Google Docs, PDFs, and many other programs. It is a quick way to find information faster and save valuable time during your day.
Try This: Open a long email, lesson plan, or webpage and press Ctrl and F. Search for a key word like a student’s name, a due date, or a standard you are referencing. Notice how much faster you can locate exactly what you need.
🤖AI Idea Corner
Easy AI wins to boost your day in a big way.
🚀 Transform Your Workday with Gemini
Gemini is Google's generative AI tool designed to help you save time, streamline daily tasks, spark fresh ideas, and work confidently – all in a private, district-approved environment. While there are many AI chatbots available today, Gemini is the preferred AI tool for CH-UH staff and students.
Why Choose Gemini at CH-UH over other AI Tools?
Deeply Integrated with Google Workspace: Gemini connects directly to the Google tools our district relies on every day. You can use it right alongside Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail to draft, organize, and summarize your work without constantly copying and pasting between websites.
Built for Every CH-UH Role:
Teachers & Classroom Staff: Use Gemini as a thought partner to draft clear family communications, or outline learning intentions and success criteria directly aligned with our high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). Plus, teachers can use Gemini to quickly summarize turned-in Google Classroom assignments, making it much easier to get a fast pulse on student understanding and spot common trends across student work!
Administrators, Office & Operational Staff: Streamline administrative tasks by using Gemini to polish draft communications, summarize long email threads into clear action items, organize event logistics, or write custom formulas directly in Google Sheets to automate spreadsheets.
Students: Under district guidance, students can use Gemini as a personalized study partner to walk through step-by-step problem solving, create practice quizzes from class notes, or generate study guides and flashcards.
Responsible Experience for Students: Students under 18 receive a distinct product experience with extra guardrails and age-appropriate content filters. As part of onboarding, Gemini provides youth AI literacy resources endorsed by ConnectSafely and the Family Online Safety Institute.
Enterprise-Grade Data Privacy: Public AI tools often use your prompts to train their public models. With Gemini for Education, your data stays your data. Your interactions are protected under CH-UH's district agreements and are never reviewed by outside humans, used for ad targeting, or used to train AI models.
Built-in District Compliance: Gemini is covered under the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service and supports compliance with industry privacy standards, including COPPA, FERPA, HIPAA, FedRAMP, and more.
Whether you need to outline a lesson plan, draft an administrative memo, or organize a project, Gemini provides a secure, district-aligned place to start. Reach out to your building Tech Coach if you would like help testing out Gemini prompts for your specific role!
🛡️ Privacy First: A Note on FERPA
When using AI, please follow these guidelines:
Use the minimum amount of data needed.
Remove all student names.
Remove identifying information (grade level, class, letter grade).
Double-check the work you enter into AI before hitting enter.
🧰 Curricular & Digital Tools
🚀 What's New in Google Classroom
As a Google district, we are excited to share some powerful upgrades to Google Classroom! These new features are designed to save you time on planning and grading, help you keep track of student progress, and give students interactive new ways to show what they know.
Here is a look at what is coming and how it can support your classroom:
📊 Smart Class Insights & Dashboard
At-a-Glance Analytics: Quickly see student engagement with assignments, spot knowledge gaps across your class, and catch missing tasks before students fall behind.
Student Deadline Manager: Students get a streamlined homepage feed that groups their assignments by upcoming deadlines, helping them stay organized.
🤖 AI-Powered Planning & Guided Learning
Custom AI Tools for Teachers: Use Gemini directly within Google Classroom to generate rubrics in seconds, draft tailored lesson ideas, and create targeted study materials tied strictly to our approved district curriculum.
Student Notebooks & Practice: Students can use Gemini Notebook and Gemini tools to review teacher-provided materials, practice with interactive flashcards, and take self-paced practice quizzes.
🎯 Standards & Goal Tracking
Tagging Learning Goals: Easily attach state or national standards to assignments so students and families clearly understand the skills being measured.
Progress Monitoring: Track how your class is performing against key curriculum milestones throughout the term.
🎥 Native Audio & Video Features
Audio/Video Comments: Record quick audio or video instructions directly inside assignment feedback instead of typing out long comments.
Multimedia Submissions: Give students the option to submit native audio/video explanations for projects using simple Google Vids templates.
💡Pro Move: Collapse Homepage Modules for Faster Access! Want to get to your class list without scrolling? On the new Google Classroom homepage, look for the small collapse icon (four arrows pointing inward) in the top-right corner of boxes like "Feature spotlight" or "Class insights." Clicking that button shrinks those modules down so your active classrooms sit higher on the screen, giving you one-click access to your courses!
🔒 Student Data Privacy First As always, student data privacy is a top priority. All activity within Gemini and Google Workspace for Education Plus remains fully FERPA and COPPA compliant. Student and teacher inputs are kept secure within our district domain and are never used to train public AI models.
🎬 Set It and Forget It: GoGuardian Scenes and Schedules
Want your GoGuardian class sessions to run automatically with your preferred web rules already applied? Setting up flexible scheduling and a default Scene takes just a few minutes and saves you time every single day.
🛠️ Step 1: Create Your Scene
Scenes allow you to set custom web-filtering rules for your active class sessions.
Sign in to GoGuardian Teacher and click Scenes in the left menu.
Click Create List under either Allowed Websites List (high restriction: blocks everything except your chosen sites) or Blocked Websites List (low restriction: blocks only specific off-task sites).
Name your Scene, add your target URLs, and your changes will save automatically.
Need help building a custom list? Check out this GoGuardian Scene How-To Guide.
🚀 Step 2: Schedule Sessions with a Default Scene
Automate your classroom management so GoGuardian starts and applies your Scene without you having to lift a finger.
Go to the Classrooms tab, find your class, and select Settings (the gear icon) -> Edit.
Under Default Scene, select your saved Scene from the drop-down menu and click Update Classroom.
Next, head to the Calendar tab and click Schedule a Session.
Choose your class, set your start/end times, pick your repeat days (Monday-Friday), and click Save.
💡Pro Tip: Use 5/27/27 as your end date so your schedule runs through the last day of school! For more details, review this flexible scheduling tutorial.
🤝 Step 3: Add Co-Teachers
Adding co-teachers allows Intervention Specialists and support staff to view your active sessions, or start and end sessions when needed.
In the Classrooms tab, select Settings (the gear icon) -> Add Co-teachers.
Click the blue Add teacher button.
Search for the staff member you wish to add.
Define their role as Teacher (avoid using the helper option so they have full session controls).
