Mr. Covert's Musings

Course registration verification forms should be coming home via the mail in the next week or so. Please take time to look through them with your student and make sure the classes and course levels are correct. It's important that we have correct numbers of course requests when we are building the master schedule for next year.

As you are reviewing the course requests with your student, please remember to keep an appropriate balance between rigorous classes and opportunities for extracurricular and community based activities. Your student doesn't need to be in GT or AP everything in order to be competitive for college and career options beyond high school. They should take the courses that are right for them. If you have questions about the difference between course levels, don't hesitate to ask your student's current teacher or school counselor.

Course registration verification forms are due back by March 13th. If you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Ms. Sovich.

Marking Period 3 Interim - Today!

Today is the halfway point for Marking Period 3. Please take time this weekend to review your student's grades with them this weekend. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to their teachers.

**Reminder: Marking Period 3, Marking Period 4, and the Final Exam all combine to make up the overall course grade for the second 1/2 credit of a full year course.

The Principal's Honor Roll is awarded to students who earned a GPA of 3.75 or above for the Marking Period.

Congrats to all of the students who earned those designations! Let's hope for even more in Marking Period 3!

SAT Test Day - 11th Grade Students

On Wednesday, March 25, 11th grade students will take the SAT during the school day. This free administration of the SAT is a great opportunity for all of our 11th grade students. On that day, they should bring their charged BCPS Chromebook and charger.

Throughout the next month, should take time to prep for the SAT; it will help them understand the format and types of questions. Khan Academy has partnered with College Board to offer free a SAT prep program for all students. The online program is connected to your student's PSAT scores, and will make a custom study program for them based on their strengths and growth areas. See the link below for more information.
