Author/Illustrator Patricia Polacco visits MPES!

We were very fortunate to welcome Patricia Polacco to our school. Patricia shared a bit about her life as a student growing up and was an inspiration to all who heard her message. She spoke to the students about the importance of being kind and empathetic toward one another.

Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association again this year!

Last year, we participated in Jump Rope For Heart and this year we’re kicking off Kids Heart Challenge! We’re excited to continue JUMPING ROPE to help those with special hearts! Throughout our event, I will teach students how the heart works and that exercise can be fun! We also ask them to raise money to support the American Heart Association's research and education initiatives that save lives in our community. Additionally, the school earns money for PE equipment, so we can keep our kids MOVING!

  1. Go to www.heart.org/kidsheartchallenge.
  2. Search for our school and select it.
  3. Choose Option 1- Yes! You participated last year.

This year, all of your Heart Heroes will come to life! Make sure to take a few seconds to download the FREE Mobile app for iPhone or Android by searching for Kids Heart Challenge and see your heroes come to life, take selfies with your heroes and fundraise on the go.

Thank you so much for supporting our school and the American Heart Association. You are making a big difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke by supporting families just like Finn's.

FAST Again?

We are considering holding another eight week FAST program before spring break. The first FAST session held in the fall of 2017 had eight families participate and the session held in the fall of 2018 had six families participate. The results obtained from the fall of 2017 program were very positive with 78% reporting improved family cohesiveness and 89% reporting improved relationships with their FAST child. We do not yet have the results from our fall 2018 session.

If there is enough interest we will hold another program yet this school year. Anyone who wishes to improve family communication, cohesiveness, problem solving and wants to strengthen their school and community connectedness is welcome to participate. We need to have five graduating families per session to keep our credentials. Graduating families attend six of the eight nights.

If you wish to have more information on the FAST program or view our evaluation report from 2017 contact me at any time.

School Cancellations & Early Dismissal

When it is necessary to call off school because of inclement weather, bad driving conditions, or other emergency conditions, radio stations WDMP and WPVL are advised and school closing announcements are made on those stations between 6:30-8:00 a.m. On questionable mornings you are urged to listen to either WDMP or WPVL for any such announcements. You will also receive a message via phone and email. Please read detailed information about School Messenger below. We strongly urge that you do not call either the school, radio station, or the principal's home to ask if school will be held. This only ties up the telephone lines at a time when important emergency calls must be made.

At other times it may be necessary to dismiss school before the end of the regular school day because of bad weather conditions or other emergency reasons. Parents should plan for such emergencies and have definite plans with their children as to getting into their homes or going to a neighbor or relatives in the event the parent might not be home. Emergency early school dismissals can be a hazard to students, especially the younger children, if parents have not planned ahead for them. Also, if the weather looks questionable, please do not call the school. If we are having an early dismissal we need every phone line. Skylert messages will be sent, and radio stations, Radio WDMP 99.3 fm WPVL 107.1 fm as well as TV channels WISC 3, WMTV 15 and WKOW 27

LUNCH PAYMENTS MADE EASY

Lunch Express is a payment program that allows for online payments for school lunches. This is made possible by using e-funds.

The student ID number for e-funds is the "Other ID" in the general information of Skyward Family Access. This ID is located under your childs picture. Skyward Family Access is located under the "Quick links" tab on our school website .

The family number in e-funds is NOT the “Family ID” in Skyward, but is your “Phone” number in the contact information of Skyward Family Access (without area code or dashes). For example, if the families phone number in Skyward is (608) 987-1234, then the family number is 9871234.

As always, you are welcome to send meal payments to the office with your child. If you have any questions please call 987-0710.

School Calendar 2018-19
