The Wednesday Weekly
June 18, 2025
Message from Ms. Joanna
Dear Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the final days of the 2024–25 school year. As always, this time brings bittersweet feelings—we’re excited for the adventures of summer, but also sad to say goodbye to our amazing 5th graders, graduating families, and retiring staff members who have meant so much to our community. We send them off with so much love, pride, and appreciation.
While we wind down this school year, we’re also busily planning for the 2025–26 school year. New classes are being created, teacher assignments are being finalized, and new grade teams are already coming together to plan an exciting year ahead. I’m thrilled to share that we’ll have some exciting additions and enhancements next year, including:
A new early childhood specialty teacher;
A greater emphasis on hands-on, student-driven learning across all grades;
A renewed, schoolwide focus on explicit social-emotional skill-building;
And shared norms for how we address unkind behavior before it escalates into bullying.
I also want to take a moment to send a huge congratulations to PS 107’s own Angelica Cesario, parent of a third grader, who was elected to the District 15 Community Education Council! We’re so proud that Angelica will be representing not only our school but the entire D15 community. Way to go, Angelica!
Tuesday’s schoolwide PS 107 Rainbow Photo was a smashing success! Nearly 600 students and staff fit perfectly into the giant "107" drawn across the Big Yard, thanks to the precision and brilliance of parent lead Erik Holm. The result is absolutely spectacular—you can purchase a print here, and proceeds will benefit our school. Huge thanks as well to:
Aaron Cahan for the drone wizardry,
Laura Patterson for kid-wrangling and photo-perfecting,
Matthew Schneider for capturing the entire event on video for our upcoming promo,
and Gemma Niblett for all-around awesome assistance.
And just in time for sunnier skies, we’ll finally be hanging our beautiful messages of allyship with the LGBTQ+ community around the school fence next Monday! These student-created posters are vibrant, thoughtful, and full of love—you’re going to be blown away. Enormous thanks to our incredible art teacher, Ms. Julie, for making this project come to life. We’ll need volunteers to punch holes and hang posters—please look out for the Konstella sign-up if you can lend a hand.
Before we officially wrap up the year, I’d love to hear from you. If you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to let us know what you are grateful for at PS 107 by completing this short survey. There’s space to share additional feedback as well. I’ll be sharing a selection of responses (anonymously!) in the final edition of the Wednesday Weekly next week.
Wishing you a joyful, peaceful, and sun-filled week ahead!
Warmly,Ms Joanna

REMINDERS & HELPFUL TIPS
NYC SCHOOLS ACCOUNT - NYCSA
This is a NYC DOE parent account for students grades K - 12 that enables parents/guardians to view all of their children’s records - grades, fitnessgrams, attendance, your child’s DOE email, etc. At least one parent/guardian will need to have access to this account.
We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to have their own account. Any parent with children in grades k-5 who does not have their own NYSCA , please contact nbenlarbi2@schools.nyc.gov for instructions and your unique account creation code.
MAKING SCHOOL DAY DISMISSAL PICK-UP CHANGES
If there is a change to your child’s dismissal, please be sure to note the change on the Daily Dismissal form in Operoo. If it is a same day change, please email your child’s teacher and cc Nadia at nbenlarbi2@schools.nyc.gov in addition to making any changes on the Daily Dismissal form. You can also contact the main office at 718-499-2054.
MAKING AFTERSCHOOL DISMISSAL CHANGES
If you need to add a new pick up person for your child in afterschool, please make sure to update this on 6Crickets (Click Here). Afterschool and PS 107 partner in many ways, but not with our information applications. They can't access Operoo and we can't access 6Crickets.
Thank you for your assistance in ensuring your child's safety 😊
IDENTIFICATION
When entering the school building you must present your ID to the safety agent when signing in.
One helpful tip is to take a picture of your id. Often, we will have our phone with us even if we don’t have our id. This way, you always have it handy :)
