Noble Family Newsletter
January 5, 2026
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
Welcome back! We hope you had a restful break and enjoyed meaningful time with your family and loved ones. As we begin the new year, we are excited to refocus on supporting our students, strengthening learning experiences, and continuing to grow together as a school community.
Re-Commitment
Noble Families,
As we begin a new year together, we invite you to reflect on how we can all recommit to supporting our children and helping them show up as their best selves each day. A new year often feels like a fresh start, full of possibility, but it also calls for intention and consistency.
As partners in your child’s education, we share a responsibility to encourage strong habits, positive attitudes, and a belief that effort matters. This year will bring moments of celebration, challenges that help us grow, and meaningful connections between students, families, and staff.
Together, let’s remind our children that every day matters and that what they do, both at school and at home, has impact. When we work together with purpose and care, we create the conditions for our students to succeed.
Mr. Walker, M.Ed.
Principal
From the Assistant Principal's Desk
Noble Families,
The New Year offers a natural reset. When students return to school after winter break, they often come back with fresh energy, new perspectives, and readiness to grow. This time of year is an important opportunity for students to reconnect with routines, expectations, and the sense of belonging that supports learning.
As we begin the second half of the year, our teachers will spend time reviewing and practicing classroom routines with clarity and care. This helps students feel confident, supported, and prepared for learning. We will also continue reinforcing our Big 4 expectations, which guide how students learn, interact, and grow, both at Noble and beyond the classroom.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are excited to move forward together and make the most of this next chapter in your child’s learning journey.
Ms. Barrett
Assistant Principal

The Superintendent Winter Reading Challenge Is Here!
What: Read as many books as you like. Get the Elementary Reading Challenge Snowflakes sheet from your teacher and color in a snowflake for every book you read. Raffle: The first week of March, we will pull names to give out prizes from the raffle box. All students’ names will then be combined the first week of March to pull for our grand prize winner.
Ms. Wallace - Preparing Students for Winter Reading Challenge!
A huge thank you to Ms. Wallace for already launching the Elementary Reading Challenge with students during library time! We appreciate your initiative and commitment to fostering a love of reading—thank you for leading the way!

Families of K–3 students can support learning at home by practicing Acadience Reading and Math skills. Acadience provides short, targeted practice activities that reinforce key skills and help students build confidence. You can learn more and access practice materials here: Acadience Practice Resources.
For families of students in grades 3–5, the Ohio Department of Education offers resources to practice for the OST (Ohio State Tests) and Interim Assessments. These resources include sample questions, practice tests, and guidance to support at-home learning.
Using these resources can help students feel prepared and confident while reinforcing skills learned in school.
Cleveland Heights MLK Ceremony & Contest
Deadline Extended! - 1/7!
The City of Cleveland Heights is excited to announce the prompt for its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, now in its 30th year.
In 2026, we're joining with The King Center, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that the King legacy not only remains relevant and viable but is effectively leveraged for positive social impact.
The King Center's 2026 theme is: Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way. According to the nonprofit, "This theme is more than a banner; it’s a blueprint for action...anchor[ing] our commitment to building the Beloved Community: a world where injustice ends, violence is replaced by compassion, and love becomes the prevailing force."
These are both large and complex ideas, and we encourage teachers and parents/guardians of our younger students to focus on the power of choosing kindness over meanness.
Students are invited to explore these ideas in essay form, in a poem, or visually in a poster.
We will review all submissions in preparation for the Tuesday, January 13, ceremony at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, 6 pm. All students, their families, and friends are invited to attend the event. A selection of students will be invited to share their work on stage and will be notified in advance if selected.
Please complete the form linked here and upload your submission.
If you'd prefer to submit a physical copy, please contact Jonathan Wilhelm at jwilhelm@clevelandheights.gov or (216) 291-3669.
Deadline for all submissions: January 7, 2026!
