Wiggin Street Parent Update
April 4, 2025
Better Together
Dear families,
It was great seeing all the students as they returned from Spring Break! The start of April brought April Fool's jokes including an announcement from me. Giggles and jumping loudly above my office made my day!
Just a reminder that every month we are required to complete a fire drill and tornado drill. Now, we are required to practice a fun new drill. It's a Floor is Lava Drill. Remember that with all drills, we must stay quiet and listen to the adults. So, for the first part of this drill, I want you to make sure that all items are picked up off the floor around your desk. I'll give you a minute. Now put your arms out and make sure you are an arm's length distance from your neighboring classmates. Now, jump 5x to avoid the lava. That concludes our floor is lava drill! Happy April Fool's Day!
We are gearing up for our Spring Fun Festival next Friday. There are links to opportunities for you to volunteer. One says that it is for staff, but it is now opened up to the community. The High School Key Club has filled many spots as well as Kenyon volunteers, but we still need your help. Another way to help is to provide baked goods for the cafeteria and the 4 Corners game. More information can be found below.
Mrs. Springer is busy preparing for our K-2 Spring Musicals and Talent Show. Tryouts for the Talent Show is next Tuesday and Wednesday. Parents are welcome to attend the show in the gym. The Upcoming Events Calendar at the end of this update includes events through the end of the school year. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call or email.
Wiggin Street was recognized again for exceeding state standards by earning an overall 5-stars on the Traditional Report Card for our performance across the five rated components during the 2023-24 school year. Congratulations also to East Elementary and Twin Oak Elementary for also being recognized!
We hope to see everyone next Friday at the Fun Festival! This is a community event, so feel free to invite others to attend.
Best wishes,
Christy Grandstaff
2025-26 Class Lists and Teacher Requests
A lot goes into creating class lists. Teachers meet with the next grade level as well as other staff that work closely with the grade level to make sure the classes are well balanced. Students' academic levels and Social Emotional needs are just a couple of ways that teachers look at to balance the classes. This continues into the summer as we are made aware of new enrollment. For these reasons, we feel it is important to wait till August to share the final lists.
If you have an educational reason for a teacher request, please submit it in writing via email to myself at cgrandstaff@mvcsd.us by May 1st, 2024. Also, if you know your child will not be attending next year, please let us know.

Spring Fun Festival 2025
Envelopes were sent home with your child today for the Fun Festival's pre-sale of game cards and wrist bands. If for some reason, you do not receive an envelope, feel free to use the information below and write on an envelope containing the money to be sent in with your student.
Desserts Needed:
The 4 Corners Game is always a big hit! Students can win cakes, brownies, cupcakes, and other desserts. These items are greatly needed and can be donated the morning of the 11th, and brought to the office, or students can deliver them to Mrs. Clippinger's room.
We are also in need of the following donations: cookies, brownies, Rice Crispy Treats, etc. for desserts in the cafeteria. Thank you!!!
