5-Star Digital Student ID - Required for Short Day Release Starting 8/25
Hello Spartan Families,
To improve campus security and streamline student dismissal, Villa Park High School is implementing a new procedure for students who leave campus early.
Effective Monday, August 25th, all students who have a Short Day Period or Athletic Release Period will be required to present their 5-Star Student Digital ID card when exiting the security checkpoint in the front of campus.
To be dismissed, the digital ID must display the appropriate Short-Day Release Badge, which will be visible on the student’s 5-Star home screen. This badge verifies their eligibility for an early dismissal.
How to Access Your Digital ID:
Students can access their digital ID by downloading the 5-Star Students app on their mobile device.
No Phone? No Problem.
Students who do not have a mobile device can report to the Counseling Office before their dismissal time to have a copy of their 5-Star student page printed. This printout will serve as their pass to exit campus.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and secure campus for everyone.
Thank you,
Villa Park High School Administration
Get Your VPHS E-Bike & E-Scooter Permit!
Hello Spartans,
As a reminder, all students who wish to park an electric bike (E-Bike) or electric scooter (E-Scooter) on the Villa Park High School campus must have a valid VPHS parking permit. The new permits for the 2025-2026 school year are now available!
How to Obtain Your E-Bike/E-Scooter Permit:
There are two simple steps for all new riders:
Pick up an application from Mrs. Zlaket. (Counseling Office)
Attend a mandatory safety course with our School Resource Officer, Deputy McDermott. - AUGUST 28 @ Lunch in Library
Permits will be issued to students at the conclusion of the safety course.
Who needs to attend the safety course?
New Riders: Any student who has not previously received a permit MUST attend the safety course.
Returning Riders: If you received a permit last year, you do not need to renew it or attend the course again. Your permit is still valid.
Upcoming Safety Course:
The first safety course of the year is scheduled for this week. Please be sure to attend if you are a new rider.
Date: Thursday, August 28th
Time: During Lunch
Location: In the Library
Students without a valid, displayed permit will not be permitted to park their E-Bikes or E-Scooters in the designated areas on campus. Secure your spot by getting your application and attending the safety course!
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe.
Go Spartans!
Student Conduct & Guidelines 2025-2026
Take a moment to review the VPHS Student Conduct & Guidelines for 2025-2026. To give students the best educational experience possible, it's important that students not only are aware of the rules, they abide by them. Administration and staff will make sure to build a culture of accountability so that students may thrive.
- Student Attendance: Students who arrive late to class after the bell rings for each period are tardy. There is a 6-minute passing period to move from class to class. Students who earn 4 tardies will be assigned a lunch detention. We appreciate parent support in encouraging students to be prompt and show up to classes on time!
- Student Conduct Guidelines 25-26: Outline of student behavior and consequences administered by Student Services (Discipline). Please take a moment to review school policies on the following topics:
- Attendance Policy
- Saturday School & Loss of Activities
- Lunch Detention
- Campus Deliveries
- Dress Code
- Student Parking
Click Here to Review Student Conduct Guidelines
- Attendance: Parents must call or deliver a note to the Attendance Office within 72 hours to clear a student's absence. Students will be held accountable for their attendance through lunch detentions or Saturday School for unexcused absences. If a student is absent from school, they must provide an excuse for an absence (Illness, Personal, Medical Appointment, etc.). Calls to attendance can be made to (714) 532-8020.
Schoolwide Consequences
Students:
Be advised that Detentions have carried over from last year for all current 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
VPHS is committed to holding students accountable for their actions and promotes good decision-making and responsibility. To these ends, we offer a diverse system of accountability to allow students to "work off" their earned detentions:
- Attend Lunch Detention (Mon. through Fri. Room 205)
- Attend Saturday School (offered 2 times per month, 8am - 12pm, Room 205)
- Dress for Success Mondays - Dress Professionally to school, 2 detentions off
- College Thursdays & Spirit Fridays - Wear College gear on Thursdays and VP gear on Fridays, 1 detention off for participation.
If a student is assigned lunch detention or Saturday School, Mr. Pongco will notify students as well as parents. It is each student's responsibility to serve the appropriate consequences in a timely manner. Lunch detentions should be served the same week they are assigned. Saturday School must be served at the soonest available date.
Should you have any questions, please contact Mr. Pongco or Mrs. Zlaket in the Counseling Office.

Seniors Add a Splash of Color to VPHS Parking Lot!
This weekend, the VPHS parking lot got a vibrant and personal makeover! We are thrilled to announce our inaugural Senior Parking Spot Painting event, a new tradition that kicked off with incredible creativity and Spartan spirit.
This fantastic new initiative was put on as a fundraiser for the VPHS Cheer team. Over the weekend, 40 seniors from the Class of 2026 were assigned their own parking spaces to design and paint. These personalized spots are now reserved for them to park in for the entire 2025-2026 school year.
We invite you to take a look at their amazing artwork! You can see these colorful and unique spaces in the VPHS parking lot next to the tennis courts.

Junior Spartan Cheer Clinic and Performance Brings Community Spirit to the Field
Villa Park High School hosted its annual Junior Spartan Cheer Clinic on August 16, welcoming over 90 students in grades K–12 for a day filled with energy, teamwork, and Spartan spirit. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., participants learned cheers, chants, and sideline routines from the VPHS Cheer Team, while also building confidence and friendships across grade levels.
The excitement carried into the following week when the Junior Spartans took the field at the August 23rd football game. Dressed in their clinic shirts and brimming with school pride, the participants showcased what they had learned in front of a packed home crowd. Their performance was a highlight of the night, drawing cheers from families, students, and community members alike.
Events like the Junior Spartan Cheer Clinic not only connect future Spartans to high school traditions but also strengthen the bond between Villa Park High School and the broader community. With such a strong turnout, this year’s clinic was a celebration of school pride and the power of bringing students together across all ages.

This Week in Sports
It was an exciting opening week for Spartan Athletics, with several teams taking the field and court to showcase their hard work and school pride. From thrilling victories to tough battles, our Spartans demonstrated grit, determination, and teamwork.
🏈 Football
The Spartan Football program came out strong in its Week 0 matchups. The Freshman team kicked things off with a nail-biting 18–14 win at home against Carson, giving fans plenty to cheer about. Not to be outdone, the Junior Varsity team delivered an impressive performance the very next day, dominating Millikan with a 42–12 victory. Both games highlighted the depth of talent in the program and set a positive tone for the season ahead. Varsity Football played on Saturday night at Fred Kelly and came out on top with a score of 26 to 22.
🏐 Girls Volleyball
The Girls Volleyball program started the week at home against El Dorado. While the Spartans faced a challenging opponent, all three levels fought hard throughout the night. The Frosh/Soph and Junior Varsity teams each battled through two sets, ultimately falling 0–2, while the Varsity squad showed determination across three sets before dropping the match 0–3. Though the results weren’t in Villa Park’s favor, the effort and teamwork on display promise continued growth as the season progresses. On Thursday, the team traveled to Sonora High School, where the Freshman Team came away with a 2-1 win. JV and Varsity fought hard but lost 0-2 and 0-3, respectively.
🏈 Girls Flag Football
Girls Flag Football had a full schedule this week, taking on multiple opponents. The Junior Varsity team started the week strong with a nail-biting 7–6 win over El Toro, showing resilience and composure in a close road game. The Varsity team faced El Toro as well but fell short in a tough 0–26 loss. Despite the setback, the team gained valuable experience early in the season and will look to bounce back in the weeks ahead.
🏃 Cross Country
Both the Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country teams opened their season at the Mt. Sac Invitational on August 23. While official placements were not available at press time, the meet provided an early opportunity for athletes to test themselves against strong competition and set benchmarks for the season. The Spartans represented Villa Park with pride and are already building momentum toward league competition.
This week showcased the spirit and resilience of Spartan Athletics. Whether celebrating victories or learning from challenges, our teams continue to demonstrate what it means to compete with heart and pride. Go Spartans!
