Happy Friday DKMS parents! We have had another great week here at the middle school.

This week we had our last round of NWEA testing. I want to thank our students for their focus and hard work in completing this. Also, a big shout out goes out to our teachers for preparing our students to be successful on the tests and Mrs. Boorsma for coordinating all our testing sessions this year.

On Wednesday Mrs. Collins hosted a career day for our students. We had many community members present information and answer questions about their careers. It was a great opportunity for our students to learn about different options they will have when they leave DK High School.

Our final two weeks have lots of events and activities for the students, so here is an update:

• Monday May 27, 2024: No School Memorial Day
• Wednesday May 29, 2024: 7th and 8th Grade field trip to Michigan Adventures
• Thursday May 30, 2024: DK Pie Summer Bash for all grades
• Friday May 31, 2024: 8th Grade Semi Formal Dance
• Monday June 3, 2024: 6th Grade field trip to Chicago
• Tuesday June 4, 2024 1/2 day of School: Award Assemblies
• Wednesday June 5, 2024 1/2 day of School
• Thursday June 6, 2024 1/2 day and last day of School: Student yearbook signing

This year students will be turning in their Chromebook, case, and charger on Monday June 3rd or Tuesday June 4th. Here is the message from our District Technology Director:

Monday, June 3 - Chromebook Turn-In: Grades 5, 7, and 8 Only

Tuesday, June 4 - Chromebook Turn-In: Grade 6 Only

* Before returning your device, you will be given a Chromebook Return slip that will have your name, student ID, and some instructions on returning your assigned Chromebook

* At some point during the school day, you will be called down to room 26 to turn in your assigned Chromebook and accessories. At this time please bring your assigned Chromebook in its case (charged), Chromebook Return slip, and charger to turn in.

* Chromebook and its case must be clear of any stickers or personal artifacts.

* Your Chromebook and charger will be assessed for damage and any fines will be added to your account for payment.

If your child is enrolled in summer school, they will be given their Chromebook back on the first day of summer school. Chromebooks will stay at school during summer school.

As always I would like to thank our staff, students, families, and community for all of their hard work and support. We have two weeks (8 days) left, so the finish line is definitely in sight! I know we will finish this year off strong!

A special thank you goes out to all of our veterans who have passed on, as we remember them this Memorial Day. Your sacrifice and bravery will never be forgotten!
