Week 6 Updates
Dear Viking Families,
We are heading into Week 6, and it is hard to believe how quickly the school year is moving! As we continue building strong routines and learning together, we want to share an important reminder about Wednesday, October 7—Count Day. It is especially important that all students are in school and in attendance on this day. Count Day attendance is used by the State of Michigan to determine school funding, so having our students present helps ensure our school receives the funding we are eligible to receive to support our students, classrooms, and programs. We appreciate your help in making attendance a priority and ensuring your child is here and ready to learn on Wednesday, October 7. Thank you for partnering with us and for helping our Vikings start the year strong!
With Viking Pride,
Mrs. Love

We’re Celebrating Respect!
Our students have been doing an amazing job demonstrating respectful behavior, and their hard work has earned them a special reward!
We’re almost at the top of our school-wide bucket, which means our students are making great choices and showing that they know what it means to be respectful! But… we still have a little work to do! Keep up the respectful behavior, kindness, and positive choices!
Students may wear their pajamas to school on Monday, October 5th!
We are so proud of our students and all the progress they’re making. Let’s fill the bucket in October!
October is National Bullying Prevention Month
October Is National Bullying Prevention Month
Dear Dundee Community Schools Community,
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. As a school community, we want to encourage everyone to stay informed about the signs of bullying, the impact it can have, and what to do if you see it happening.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines bullying as behavior that is:
- Unwanted: The behavior is not wanted by the victim.
- Aggressive: The behavior involves some form of aggression, such as physical force, threats, or intimidation.
- Repeated: The behavior happens more than once or has the potential to happen again.
Acts of bullying may involve physical contact, words or gestures, or social exclusion. Bullying can happen in person or online.
The signs of bullying include:
- Physical signs: bruises, cuts, torn clothing, missing items
- Emotional signs: changes in mood, withdrawal from friends and activities, anxiety, depression
- Behavioral signs: aggressive behavior, changes in eating or sleeping habits, truancy
- Social signs: being excluded from activities, being made fun of or called names
If you see bullying happening, it's important to do something. Here are some things you can do:
- Talk to the bully and tell them to stop.
- Talk to the victim and offer your support.
- Report the bullying to a trusted adult, such as a teacher, counselor, or parent.
If you or someone you know is being bullied, there are resources available to help:
Together, we can create a safe and supportive school community for all students!

How to Be Connected to DES
Welcome to Aptegy Rooms for DCS!
We have transitioned to Apptegy Rooms over the summer 2026 for most school communications. Announcements and messages will be organized by students' classes and activities. Rooms will be your one-stop-shop for routine announcements from teachers and staff. You'll be able to message staff members right from the DCS app (Google Play Store | iOS App Store) just like we did previously with Bloomz.
More information will be coming from your child's teacher. For now, take some time to familiarize yourself with the DCS app and the basics of messaging with Rooms. If you have any questions, please reach out to us in the Tech Office at tech@dundeeschools.org.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Additionally, don't forget to have your parent portal set up in Infinite Campus (Instructions in the photo below). You will use this to pay for all field trips, access report cards, add money to your child's lunch account for extras or a la carte, and to review your child's attendance and registration information. 4th grade students ill be able to purchase snacks on the a la carte line once per week with funds on their account. Please call the office with any questions.
Mental Health Matters
The first few weeks of school are all about getting comfortable and building routines. Hopefully everyone is beginning to feel settled in and getting into the groove of being back to school. Still, there can be some challenges and sometimes school can feel overwhelming. If this is the case you can encourage your child to try:
Taking a few slow breaths • Getting some movement • Taking a quiet break with a preferred activity • Talk to a trusted adult
You don't have to solve everything by yourself. There are adults at school who are here to help you and your child have a successful school year!
SCHOOL + HOME = TEAMWORK
Families are an important part of student success. Please reach out if your family is experiencing a challenge that may affect your child's ability to learn, attend school, or feel comfortable at school.
Your school social worker can help connect families with school and community resources and provide support with social-emotional needs, friendships, school adjustment, attendance, and other concerns.
Asking for help is a strength—not a weakness!
LET'S MAKE IT A GREAT YEAR!
Every student deserves to feel safe, valued, heard, and included.
Here's to a year filled with new friendships, new experiences, learning, laughter, and lots of growth!
