Highland Highlights - Sept. 2026
Welcome to the Highland Highlights!
In this first edition of the 2026-27 Highland Highlights, I'll share some fun photos from the first few weeks and a lot of art projects our students are already doing! I hope you enjoy.
Back to School!
After a delayed start to the year due to the destructive storm on August 11, we are so excited to finally welcome everyone back for the 2026-27 school year.
Thank you to all our staff members who worked so tirelessly to prepare our buildings for the first day of school, including our custodians, technology team, food services employees, secretaries, teachers, administrators, and many more.
Here are some photos from back-to-school night and the first day of school!

At the end of July, a group of Highland High School athletes went down to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the IHSAA Student Leadership Conference!
We are very proud of these athletes for learning more about how to be a successful leader, both in their sports and in the classroom.
Kindergarteners in Mr. Beckham's class at Johnston are learning how to glue, 7th-graders in Mrs. Haug's class at Highland Middle School are practicing their shading skills, and Highland High School students in Mrs. Kujawa's Ceramics class have been designing their own paint palettes!
Here's a roundup of some of our favorite social media posts from the last month, just in case you missed it!
Life Paths
Mrs. Gordon's 6th-grade English class at Highland Middle School started the year by reflecting on the experiences that have shaped who they are.
First Day of School
Our Merkley students were excited for the first day of school!
