ELL Teacher Newsletter
For Teachers of Multilingual Learners, February 2024
It is the middle of winter in Victoria and a good time of the year to focus on stories and storytelling. February is Black History Month and there is a plethora of special events, celebrations and learning opportunities around Victoria all month long. Please take this opportunity to educate yourself and acknowledge this at your school. The Lunar New Year is also right around the corner. Please see below for a few ideas - thanks to Vini and Gillian at Central Middle School and Maureen at Lansdowne Middle School for a few of the timely contributions! A collaborative island-made multicultural calendar is in the works for next year, so please send any suggestions to jbarber@sd61.bc.ca for inclusion. These suggestions will also be shared in this newsletter each month. Feel free to send photos that show any special projects you and your students have worked on.
