THE MUSTANG MESSENGER
February 2026
Message from the Principal
As January has come to an end, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued patience, partnership, and support. While January's winter weather led to eLearning days, two-hour delays, and other unexpected changes to our routine, our students continued to succeed and grow.
We welcomed students back and celebrated the end of the second nine weeks. Students were recognized for academic achievement in the classroom, growth on STAR testing, and for exhibiting the leadership skills of Habit 3 (Put First Things First) and Habit 4 (Think Win-Win). Pictures of recognized students can be found on the PES Facebook page.
As we move into February, we have several exciting events planned to help you stay engaged with your student during their journey here at PES. I encourage you to stay in communication with your student's teacher(s) and check SeeSaw as we will post event details and reminders throughout the month.
Thank you again for being such an important part of your student's time here at PES! I look forward to all the successes our students will accomplish during the second half of the 2025-26 school year.

Upcoming Events at PES
One School, One Book
One School, One Book is a schoolwide reading initiative that brings our community together around a shared story. All students and families are invited to read the same book over a set period of time, sparking meaningful conversations at school and at home. The goal of One School, One Book is to build a love of literacy, strengthens family engagement, and creates a sense of connection across grade levels.
We are excited to reveal the selection for this year's One School, One Book to students as part of World Read Aloud Day on February 4th. All students will receive a copy of the book and asked to read specific pages each week, either at home or in class. A trivia question will be given each week and students that answer correctly will have the opportunity to win a prize. Students will also be completing activities in class related to this book. Slides for families can be found here. These slides include information on how to participate in One School, One Book.Thank you to State Farm Insurance and Cristina Ortiz for sponsoring this event and helping provide a book for each student at PES!

Leader in Me
MRA (Measurable Results Assessments)
As a Leader in Me School, PES gives the Measurable Results Assessment each year to collect input from teachers, students, and families. The results of this survey helps to focus on improving leadership, culture, and academics at PES.
Leader in Me Schools use the MRA to continuously identify our strengths and weaknesses, develop improvement plans, and monitor progress.
The MRA measures are aligned with the highly effective practices outlined in the Leader in Me Framework. This alignment empowers schools to move from data insights to action plans and best leverage their limited time and resources to meet their most important goals.
You will receive a link to complete the MRA in the coming weeks. We respectfully ask that you complete this survey to identify strengths and guide improvements for PES!
