Last month's author visit was a delight. Mac's presentations were hilarious, inspiring, and thought-provoking! I'm so happy we were able to host such a great event!

Birthday Books!

Donating a birthday book is a great way to build personal connections to the library for our students and is an important fundraiser for our programs. If you are interested in honoring your child with a birthday book donation click here to fill out the google form and learn more about the program.

I know that times are tight for many of us. If you would like to donate a birthday book but have been reluctant because of $, please contact me and we can work something out. We are in this together! :)

Questions about lost library books

When you go to your School Cash Online account, you will probably see a line item for lost library books. This does not mean that you owe money for lost books, it just means that School Cash Online is now a payment option for lost book fees.

If your child has books from last school year that still need to be returned, please get them back as soon as you can (and feel free to check with e if you are not sure). I would love all of our students clear to check out books.

Borrowing library books is a great natural lesson in responsibility. Here are some things for you to know as your kids start checking out books:

  • Kindergarten and 1st Grade check out one book each week. It's up to the teacher's discretion whether the books go home or stay in the classroom for the week (Kindergarteners usually keep their books at school).
  • 2nd-5th Grade check out two books at a time (with wiggle room depending on the reader).
  • Checkout period is 2 weeks. After that, the book is considered overdue and the student can't check out again until the late book is returned (or they talk to me about it). And, of course, they can renew a book if they need extra time to finish it.
  • Please designate a safe place for library books at home. That way, your child will always know where to find their book and it's away from hazards such as little siblings, pets, and food/drink.
  • I know that accidents happen and books can get lost or damaged. To defray the cost of replacing lost/damaged books, there is a standard fee of $15 per book.
