Around Campus
During Tuesday's special board meeting, we presented PHS areas of strength and growth (link:Board Presentation ) and next steps we are taking to address our areas of growth.
During the AP & Elective fair on Wednesday during lunch, students were able to talk with teachers and current students about various classes that are available for students to select during the upcoming programming. During Wednesday's Safety Drill, students practiced what to do during a shelter-in-place. On Thursday, we hosted the School Site Council (link), where we developed the Parent Engagement Policy and began to review the CA Dashboard Data. Last night we recognized and celebrated 64 students who successfully completed their fall dual enrollment course (link).
Please save the date to attend our upcoming LCAP Advisory on January 29th at 6pm, where we will be looking at the CA Dashboard Data and identifying how we can continue to improve student achievement.

🎓 Celebrating Our Dual Enrollment Students & Welcoming New Support
On Thursday, Pioneer High School proudly celebrated 64 students who successfully completed a dual enrollment college course during the fall semester. This accomplishment reflects our students’ hard work, perseverance, and commitment to being college and career ready, along with the strong support of their families and school staff.
During the celebration, families also had the opportunity to meet our expanded Rio Hondo College support team, who will be working closely with Pioneer students this year:
-
Cynthia Bernal, Rio Hondo College Counselor
-
Miriam Landaverde, Rio Hondo Student Success Assistant (SSA)
Together, they will support students by helping with college course selection, pathway planning, ongoing check-ins, and navigating college systems, ensuring students feel supported as they balance high school and college-level coursework.
We are proud of our students’ achievements and grateful for the continued partnership with our families as we expand access to college opportunities for all Pioneer students.
What Is the College & Career Indicator (CCI)?
The College & Career Indicator (CCI) is a California measure that shows whether students are graduating prepared for college, a career, or both.
Students do not need to complete every option. They only need to successfully meet one pathway by graduation. CCI readiness looks different for every student and is based on progress, not perfection.
At Pioneer High School, we support students in exploring pathways that align with their strengths, interests, and goals.
How Families Can Support
Families play an important role in supporting college and career readiness. Helpful conversations at home may include:
-
What are your interests right now?
-
Which classes help you work toward your goals?
-
What would you like to explore next?
If you have questions or would like support, families are encouraged to connect with the school.

¿Qué clases te ayudan a avanzar hacia tus metas? ¿Qué te gustaría explorar a continuación? Si tiene preguntas o necesita apoyo, le invitamos a comunicarse con la escuela. 📞 (562) 698-8121
