Friday: Earth Day at RWHS
On Friday, the entire first grade class will be joining us for the annual Earth Day event here at RWHS. Students, please note that there will be littles around the building, so we expect you to show them how respectful and responsible our high schoolers are. We have a lot of fun activities planned for them in various classrooms. Say hi, give them high fives and welcome them to our building, BUT please refrain from entering their activity areas without an invitation from RWHS staff.
Red Wing Earth Week
Save the date to help save the Earth! Earth Week 2026 is this week, and you're invited to participate in local events to celebrate and give back. The Mighty Mississippi Cleanup returns with local events at He Mni Can-Barn Bluff on Wednesday, April 22, and Sturgeon Lake Road/County 18 on Saturday, April 25. Resilient Red Wing is giving away trees, and Red Wing Arts is hosting Treasures on the Trail arts-in-nature program. Get all the Earth Week event details, and join us!

Student Shout-Outs
Friendship Connection
In the picture are three students from RWHS and two from Germany. They are all participants in the Friendship Connection, which is an exchange program with Germany. Over the last 44 years of the program's existence, about 34,000 students from Germany and the U.S. have participated. Each year families from the U.S. host for three weeks in the spring, and then the American students have an opportunity to travel to Germany for three weeks in the summer. Students can participate in the "host only" or "full exchange" part of the program.
Red Wing High School has participated for over twenty-five years, and this year two German students were hosted by Allison Littfin and Josi Johnson. While Josi has been part of the "host only" program and has hosted for the past three years, Allison is hosting for the first time. This summer Allison will travel to Germany to stay with Mirja as part of the "full exchange" program. Evie Borgschatz participated last year in the full exchange, and she had a wonderful time hosting and then spending three weeks with her host family in Germany.
Allison Littfin, Mirja Stein (Allison's exchange student), Melina Pascazio (Josi's exchange student), Josi Johnson, and Evie Borgschatz

Community Opportunities for Students
City Government Opportunities for Students
High-school-age students can now take an even more active role in their local government. City Council approved last night to allow 9th- through 12th-graders to serve as voting members on four City advisory commissions. The Arts & Culture Commission, Human Rights Commission, Sister Cities Commission, and Sustainability Commission can each have one voting student member, if the student is approved, just like other nominees. Each of the four advisory commissions has at least one vacancy, so if you know a student looking to grow their civic involvement, encourage them to apply for a voting seat today. And remember, ALL boards and commissions welcome advisory non-voting student members anytime, and those seats are always available!
Still Hiring: Colvill Pool
The Colvill Aquatic Center is also still looking for more lifeguards, so if you or someone you know wants to spend their summer poolside – and get paid for it – go ahead and apply today.
