MLK, Jr. Day---Monday
JANUARY...
NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Day
Quarter 2 closes on Friday, January 20th. Please continue to remind your child to forge forward, complete work, and look at ASPEN to see if any assignments are missing. There are two weeks remaining to impact the next report card. Students should always take advantage of staying after school, especially if they have missed a day of learning or need to make up work. If they have a question about something in ASPEN, they should ask their teacher. We have late busses available Monday through Thursday.
Quarter 2 also brings us to the half way mark of the year. Some students take electives that are only a semester long (or half year long). For those students, they will take newer classes Semester 2 (for example, art is a half year class). To see this change, students should log into their ASPEN account, select "My Info" at the top and then "Current Schedule" on the left. In the drop down box, they should select "Q2."
Report cards will be posted to ASPEN on January 27th at 3pm.
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, February 2nd 6-8pm (A-Z). Details regarding electronic sign ups for conferences to follow.

FROM THE CLINIC
Message from the FBMS Clinic
Dear Parent or Guardian: Winter 2022
The peak of the cold and flu season is upon us. To prevent widespread flu in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines:
Consider keeping your child at home for an extra day of rest and observation if he or she has any of the following symptoms:
● Very stuffy or runny nose and/or cough
● Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep)
● Headache
● Stomach ache
Definitely keep your child at home for treatment and observation if he or she has any of these symptoms:
● Fever (greater than 100 degrees and your child may return to school only after his or her temperature has been consistently below 100 degrees, by mouth, for a minimum of 24 hours)
● Vomiting (even once)
● Diarrhea
● Chills
● General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
● Frequent congested (wet) or croupy cough
To help prevent the flu and other colds, teach your children good hygiene habits:
● Wash hands frequently
● Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
● Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, use a paper tissue, throw it away and then wash hands
● Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Colds are the most contagious during the first 48 hours. A child who has a fever should remain at home until "fever free" for a minimum of 24 hours. Often when a child awakens with vague complaints (the way colds and flu begin). It is wise to observe your child at home for an hour or two before deciding whether or not to bring them to school. Your child should be physically able to participate in all school activities on return to school. Keeping a sick child at home will minimize the spread of infections and viruses in the classroom.
Please also take the time to click on the links below for flu guides for parents from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Thank you in advance for helping make this year at school as healthy as possible.
