Principal Message
Dear Parents & Guardians,
How is it possible that October is already here? It’s hard to believe our students have already been in school for 27 days. At this point in the year, students are continuing to settle in at their own pace, and much of our focus at the start of the year is on establishing consistent routines, setting clear expectations, building strong classroom communities, and reviewing prior learning to set the stage for a successful year. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child, please be sure to communicate directly with their classroom teacher. They are your first point of contact and will be able to best address your child’s needs.
We are heading in the right direction in the T-Mobile Contest !! Keep Voting! For this week's Spirit Challenge we need students to wear pink on Tuesday and Staff to wear pink on Wednesday. We will take pictures and submit to earn an additional 10,000 votes! Please be sure to use the link below to vote with every email, everyday as winning the Friday Night Lights will directly benefit our children.

Homework & Learning
Homework at WCS is designed to provide students with extra practice on skills learned in the classroom. Within every classroom, students have access to both remediation and enrichment opportunities so that instruction can be tailored to meet their needs. Please also keep in mind that at the start of the year, grades can shift significantly with just one assignment. We encourage families to focus on more than the numbers and support your child in communicating with their teachers and taking ownership of their learning.
Preparedness & Routines
We’ve noticed an increase in students forgetting important items at home. Developing a strong routine now will help set students up for success throughout the year. Arriving prepared each morning helps students feel confident and ready for the day. When a child feels unprepared, it can make the rest of their school day more challenging.
Safety Reminder
One growing concern is the number of cars driving head-on into traffic in front of the school in order to make a left-hand turn. This is a serious safety risk that could lead to an avoidable accident involving children. For the safety of all students, staff, and families, please refrain from this practice. I am currently working with the Windham Police Department to address this issue, but your cooperation is essential in keeping everyone safe.
Thank you for your continued support as we move into October. Together, we can ensure a safe and successful school year for all students.
