Dear DeKeyser Families,

We truly appreciate your cooperation and patience during arrival and dismissal times. To ensure everyone’s safety and keep traffic moving smoothly, it’s essential that families park only in designated spots and avoid no-parking zones. Cones will be placed in no-park areas to help reinforce this expectation. If you are using the drop off lane, we ask that you make sure your child is ready to exit on the right side of the car from the lane closest to the curb. Do not allow your child to exit the car from the second lane of traffic. Your adherence to proper parking lot etiquette not only supports our staff in maintaining a safe environment for all students but also shows respect for our neighbors and fellow families. Thank you for your continued understanding and support!

Due to multiple snow days, we would like to extend the chocolate sale through Mid-Winter Break. We have approximately 104 boxes of chocolate left to sell. Please send in your permission slip if you would like to help sell these boxes of chocolate. Students will be able to take a box of chocolate home through Friday, Feb. 13th. All money will be due by Tuesday, Feb. 24th.

Thank you so much to all the families who joined us at our PTCG meeting this past week! It's always exciting to look ahead and discuss all the events and activities coming up for our kiddos. We appreciate all the familiar faces that continue to be a part of this amazing team and also love welcoming new faces too! Sweetheart Smencils were delivered to classrooms on Friday for a little extra Valentine's Day joy. We hope your kiddos love all the sweet smells as much as we do!

Our DeKeyser Family Bowling event is scheduled on Saturday, February 28th from 1:00-3:00pm at 5 Star Lanes. We are so happy to have all our dolphins join us for a Saturday afternoon full of bowling, pizza, raffle winners, and more. We can't wait to see you there! Be sure to mark your calendars for our Family Bingo Night scheduled for Thursday, March 12th from 6:00-7:30pm for $15 per family. Forms and payment for this event will be coming home after mid-winter break. Be sure to follow our PTCG FB page for more information! Have the most wonderful break, dolphins!

The Macomb Intermediate School District will be presenting additional maturation programs for fourth grade and fifth grade girls and their mothers/guardians, at which time they will answer growth and development questions.

We are asking for your support to help keep our students safe. If you plan to volunteer in our classrooms, work directly with a student and/or chaperone a field trip, etc. you will need to have a volunteer background check on file. The new volunteer application form is located at this link: www.uticak12.org/volunteer. The background check involves multiple state and federal law enforcement databases. We greatly appreciate the involvement of our families and the difference you make at DeKeyser Elementary. Thank you for your partnership with this extra step that will improve safety in our school.

A few reminders:

Please have all required documentation ready before you begin.
The application must be completed in one sitting.
One application can be used for multiple schools
Once approved, you will be cleared to volunteer in UCS schools

Utica Community Schools is pleased to provide an opportunity for School Age Child Care (SACC)!

DeKeyser Options are as follows:

Morning SACC: Monday - Friday 6: 45 am - 9:05 am (Currently registering on a waitlist)

Afternoon SACC: Monday - Friday 3:55 pm – 6:00 pm at Messmore Elementary

Students will be bussed to this location after school.

The 2026-2027 PreK for All pre-application opens December 9, 2025. PreK for All is a free preschool program funded through the Michigan Department of Education, Please see the attached flyer (14A).

To be eligible for the 2026-2027 school year, children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2026.
