From the Principal... Matt Clark
Nothing beats a good celebration, especially when it is earned through hard work, perseverance, and dedication. That is one of the many reasons the end of the school year brings so much joy to our school community. After months of learning, growth, activities, performances, projects, assessments, practices, and plenty of early mornings, these culminating events give us an opportunity to pause and celebrate all that our students have accomplished together.
This week is especially joyful as we celebrate(d) two major Thompson events. The first was our Thompson 100 Year Celebration on Wednesday evening. It was an awesome event filled with energy, laughter, and community spirit. From obstacle courses and yard games to therapy ponies and food trucks, there truly was something for everyone. A special shoutout goes to our student band, Fallen Flyers, who absolutely rocked the evening with an outstanding performance. Seeing generations of Thompson families, former students, current students, staff, and community members together to celebrate a century of Thompson was something truly special.
This evening, we continue the celebration with our annual 8th Grade Dance. Our incredible PTO parents have been working tirelessly behind the scenes today to transform the school into a memorable experience for our students. Their time, creativity, and dedication help create one of the signature moments of middle school, and we are deeply appreciative of all they do to make this night special for our 8th graders.
As exciting as these culminating events are, they also serve as an important reminder that we are not at the finish line just yet. The final weeks of school can bring heightened emotions, extra excitement, and a strong sense of anticipation for summer. During this time, it is especially important that students continue to demonstrate the same respect, responsibility, and kindness that helped make this year so successful in the first place.
At Thompson, we often talk about βfinishing strong,β and these final days matter. Attendance matters. Effort matters. Treating one another with respect matters. Learning continues right up until the final bell of the school year, and we are proud of the way our students continue rising to the occasion.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. Together, we are making memories that students will carry with them long after middle school ends. And somewhere between the therapy ponies, dance decorations, and food trucks, I think it is safe to say Thompson still knows how to throw a pretty great party after 100 years.
Have a wonderful weekend all, and Roll Thunder!

D303 Moving to a new Student Information System
Dear D303 Families,
We are excited to share that beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, D303 will be moving to a new Student Information System called Synergy.
For families and students, this means two new online portals for you to access important information: ParentVUE and StudentVUE. These will replace Home Access Center (HAC) as the way you stay connected with your student's gradebook, attendance, report cards, and so much more.
This transition is a step forward for our district, and our staff have been hard at work preparing for it. Behind the scenes, teams have been setting up the new system, transferring student data from our current system to Synergy, and training D303 employees so we are ready to support staff, students, and families.
What you need to know right now:
Home Access Center (HAC) will close on Friday, June 5, 2026. HAC needs to go offline so we can complete the data conversion to the new system. Once it closes, it will no longer be accessible.
Please view and save your student's report cards before June 5, 2026.
In July and August, we will share more information about:
Creating your ParentVUE accounts
Logging in and accessing the new portals
A navigation overview to help you find what you need in the new portal
If you have questions about HAC or need help accessing it before it closes, please reach out to your school's front office.
Thank you for your patience and partnership as we prepare for this exciting change. We look forward to introducing you to ParentVUE and StudentVUE later this summer!
Sincerely,
D303 Communications

π©Ί From the Nurse
Dear Parents,
Please do not forget to pick up all medications by the last day of school! Those medicines not picked up by an adult by May 27th, will need to be disposed of on the last day at dismissal time. The only medications that can be given to a student to transport home are those that are allowed to be self carried (Epi Pens or inhalers). If there is a self carry form on file for one of those medications, please remind your student to stop in and pick up medication before leaving on the last day otherwise plan on having an adult pick them up.
All medication orders must be renewed each school year. Forms are linked below.
Appointments for the required K, 6th grade and 9th grade physicals tend to fill up quickly and should be scheduled now! Please submit the completed physicals and/or immunizations to the respective school offices as they are done. They can also be emailed to the nurses at TMS at TMSC-Nurses@d303.org.The form is linked below and is different then the Sport Physical form. Forms are required to be submitted for review prior to the first day of school (August 12th). Dental exams are also required for 6th and 9th grade students. They can be completed within 18 months of May 15th, 2027. A vision examination and form is also required for those students transferring into TMS from outside of Illinois.
The health office is closed during the summer months. I will return for limited hours beginning in early August. Please contact me if there are new medical concerns for your child or if your child will need a health plan at school.
Have a safe and healthy summer!

Small Recap...
As we wrap up the school year, it is important to recognize how much growth students have made in math this year. Middle school math builds the foundation for future learning, and throughout the year students have worked on strengthening important skills in fractions, algebra, geometry, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Students have learned and practiced a variety of math strategies to help them approach problems with more confidence and independence. They have worked on breaking down multi-step problems, identifying patterns, estimating answers, checking their work, and so much more! These strategies help students become stronger thinkers both inside and outside of the classroom.
Consistent practice has also played a major role in student growth. Through daily work, class activities, and review, students have continued building fluency and accuracy in their math skills. Like any skill, math improves with repetition, persistence, and effort over time.
Although the school year is coming to an end, learning does not stop here. The skills students developed this year will continue to support them as they move into future math courses and new challenges ahead. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year and for encouraging students to stay positive, persistent, and confident in their learning journey.

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!
Weβre on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we canβt do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!
Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem smallβbut when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.
Hereβs how to pitch in:
Save your pop tabs at homeβand ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!
Bring them to school all year long.
Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!
Let's pull together and make a difference!
D303 Updates
Make Your Voice Heard! Take the D303 Facilities Survey
Superintendent Dr. Paul Gordon shared an update this week on the School Boardβs discussion of the Final Report submitted by the D303 Communitywide Education Facilities Committee.
D303 launched a communitywide Facilities Survey this week. As the Board considers potential facilities investments, we want input from all community members on this key question: What do you want your schools to look like and do for our students over the next 30 years?
And to help the community understand the current state of D303 facilities, Dr. Gordon shared a video recap of the Facilities Committeeβs work and findings. Please take a little bit of time to watch the video and make your voice heard by taking the survey!
