Yes! I Can! Kickoff Assembly

We are so excited to launch our school-wide Yes! I Can! behavior incentive program! This program is designed to recognize and reward students for demonstrating our core values of being safe, responsible, and respectful.

Students will earn Yes! I Can! tickets throughout the school year when they are caught showing these great behaviors. The tickets will be put into a drawing for a chance to have a VIP lunch on Fridays. This is a fantastic way to celebrate all the positive choices our students make every day.

We kicked off the program with a special assembly on September 30th. This assembly featured an amazing cheer created and performed by some of our fantastic 4th-grade leaders. We are so proud of these students for stepping up to be role models for the entire school. They worked incredibly hard, practicing their cheer and making positive signs to share with everyone.

A huge thank you goes out to our wonderful 3rd-grade teacher, Ms. Agent, for her time and support in helping our students prepare. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated teacher who helps make our school a great place to be.

We can't wait to see all the great things our students will accomplish this year. Together, we can make our school a safe, responsible, and respectful place for everyone!

On Friday, October 31st Bowlesburg will be celebrating Halloween by having a costume parade and classroom parties. The parade will begin at 1:30 and will make a lap around our track, weather permitting. Classroom parties will begin immediately following the parade. Please remember that all costumes must be elementary school appropriate. No blood, gore, or weapons allowed. Students should not wear their costumes or make-up to school. There will be time for students to change into their costumes before the parade.

We need your help! As part of our district's strategic plan, we're working to define what an "EMSD Learner" looks like. We're calling this the EMSD Essentials, and your input is crucial in shaping it.

We invite all parents to a meeting to share your ideas and feedback. Please join us:

  • When: October 15 at 5:00 p.m.

  • Where: Administration Building

Secret Stories

Is your student having trouble reading a word?

Ask them if the letters have a Secret Story!

Secret Stories® explain the sounds letters make when they get together, with posters to help kids remember for independent reading and writing.

AU / AW “Secret” Phonics Story

AU / AW have a huge crush on each other and whenever they have to stand right next to each other in words, they get so embarrassed, they always look down and say –

“awwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…”

EU / EW “Secret” Phonics Story

These letters are very prim and proper little girls who are deathly afraid of mice! If they see one scamper, they will jump up high, in complete disgust, screaming —

“eeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuu!”

ER / IR / UR “Secret” Phonics Story

These letters love to go driving in cars, but they are terrible, awful, horrible, ‘no-good’ drivers – so they always have to slam on the brakes!

“ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!”
