Saint of the Month
Living Like the Saints
October's mission, The Child Life Specialists of Blank Children's Hospital, Unity Point Heath was chosen by our third grade classes. This compasionate program fosters healing and recovery by helping children express their concern and cope with their fears. Specialists meet with families to provide educational activities to help children adjust to the medical setting, prepare for medical procedures and put them at ease. This orginization is beautifully aligned with the Visitation Order co-founded by St. Jane Frances de Chatal whose mission was to embody the virtues modeled by the Blessed Virgin Mary at the time of her visitation of Elizibeth. Thank you in advance for supporting Mission Day - Out of Uniform on October 31st and the Children's collection at this weekend's masses.
We Learn
Next week, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week! Students are invited to participate in a fun week of spirit activities to celebrate our choice to be healthy and drug-free. Each day will have a special theme, so students are encouraged to dress according to the daily spirit ideas. Please remember to follow our out-of-uniform guidelines to ensure clothing is appropriate for school.
This is a great opportunity to show school spirit, make positive choices, and support each other in living a healthy lifestyle. We look forward to seeing everyone participate and have fun while celebrating Red Ribbon Week!
PBIS
In September and October, our PBIS school-wide lesson will focus on personal space. Lessons will be taught to all students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Teachers and staff have noticed more students displaying physical touch in the hallways and on the playground, so these lessons will help students practice respecting each other’s personal space in different settings.
To reinforce this at home, parents can:
- Model appropriate personal space during family interactions.
- Use clear language to remind children about their “personal bubble.”
- Praise their child when they respect others’ personal space.
- Role-play different social situations where personal space matters (e.g., standing in line, greeting a friend, playing on the playground, sitting at the dinner table).
